We used our tweezers to pick up leaves and transfer them into bowls. We had to remember to squeeze the tweezers to hold the leaf.

We then tore some crepe paper - which was fun in itself! Before sticking it onto our paper leaves. The process of just spreading the glue is what some like the best and they can spend a long time just doing this.

Autumnal coloured oats, diggers, pinecones, sticks, wooden rounds.
We used the sticks for mark making. We measured the sticks with the pinecones to see how many “pinecones long” they were.
Ramps were used for rolling pinecones and driving the cars down. Also for filling with oats then moving them off with the diggers.
I made shapes with the sticks, we named them and the boys filled them in with the oats as well as trying to make their own shapes.
The boys helped each other with filling the diggers with the oats, one of them telling the others which colours he wanted them to get for him.
Brilliant to see them using their imaginations, working together and a great tray for all areas of learning by promoting understanding the world, maths, literacy, psed, physical development, expressive art and design, communication and language.

They also found the munchkin pumpkins which I forgot about!

After reading our autumn books this morning and looking and talking about the leaves changing colour on the trees we made our own autumn trees using coloured water.
The children enjoyed using the pipettes to transfer the water. We had to figure out that you only squeezed the dropper once in the water to suck it up before squeezing it again on the cotton pads to let it out.

Today we painted a box that I had glue gunned different materials/textures to.
The unusual painting surface encourages children to explore freely using their whole body, developing physical coordination, arm and shoulder strength, hand–eye coordination and control, while experimenting with different textures, movements and marks.

One of the children was very exited to find that red and yellow mixed together made orange!

Magnetic tiles along with a toy and book rotation have kept their imaginative minds busy this morning. The fire station was a big hit and they have been putting fires out all day!

Looking at colours this morning. Practicing our fine motor skills using the tweezers and counting, sorting, posting, looking at fast and slow. We read our Percy the Park Keeper book about colours and the crayons went back to school book alongside this and sang the rainbow song.

Football then exploring.
The boys found a number on one of the trees in the woods, an arrow telling us which way to go, a hole in a log where a biiiiiiiggg spider lived (and maybe a mouse too) and some mushrooms growing out of a tree.
We found some dandelion clocks and blew the seeds off, a ladybird and lots of conkers which was very exciting! Some were still in their shells.
The boys also dug for trucks with their sticks in the ground. One of them told me they’d found a dead fish!
