Move over, engineers… Year 4 and 5 have arrived! 🤖

Our pupils got stuck into a fantastic STEM session with Octavius, on behalf of Tilbury Douglas, exploring construction, engineering, coding and technology through LEGO robots!

Working in teams, our pupils built their own motorised robots before putting their coding skills to the test with a series of challenges 💻🌟

There was plenty of experimenting, problem-solving, creativity and teamwork along the way … a brilliant hands-on introduction to the world of STEM and the exciting careers that use these skills every day.

Our pupils are shining with their Famous for a Fortnight certificates! 🌟👏

These pupils have been recognised for showing fantastic determination, maturity and brilliant role modelling. They’re making a real difference through the way they approach school life and support those around them. 💙

Famous for a Fortnight is one of our favourite ways to celebrate the pupils who go above and beyond, and we couldn’t be prouder of this brilliant bunch! 🏆✨

Mini Vinnies: Recommisioned ✅💙

What better place to start another year of Mini Vinnies than Leeds Cathedral? ⛪✨Our headteacher, Mary, took our Mini Vinnies to join children from schools across the Diocese of Leeds for their recommissioning, led by Monsignor Grogan.

Together, they made their pledge to continue as Mini Vinnies and to look for ways they can support people in need in their school and wider community.

Our Mini Vinnies are ready for another year of seeing, thinking and doing... we can’t wait to see the difference they make! 🌟👏 Find out more about our Minnie Vinnies here: st-josephs.calderdale.sch.uk/Mini-Vinnies/

A huge well done to our previous EYFS class, whose achievement across all early learning goals was above the national average! 👏🌟

We’re incredibly proud of the strong foundations, confidence and skills they built during their time in EYFS and we’re excited to watch them strive even further.

As we welcome new little learners through the doors, we can’t wait to see the adventures, discoveries and achievements that lie ahead for them too! 🥰

As we review and renew our school mission, it is so important that every voice within our St. Joseph’s community is heard 💬🩵

Today, we had the opportunity to listen to one of the most important voices of all: our children. We spent time asking them what St. Joseph’s means to them, what they value about being part of our school, what makes them feel that they belong, and what they hope their school will continue to be 🌱🏫

Our children are at the very heart of everything we do, so if we are going to shape a mission that truly reflects who we are and what we stand for, their voices must be part of it.

Today was a really special reminder that a school is so much more than its buildings, curriculum and policies. It is a community, built around people, relationships, shared values and, most importantly, our children 🌟

We are listening, we are reflecting and we are building our future together 💙
