The final radio message from Arnhem.

This updated artwork features the final radio message from Arnhem, which was communicated during Operation Market Garden in September 1944 and is made with the earth from close to the bridge, done in a period typewriter font and includes an empty .303 ammo clip.

Nothing speaks more, whilst in a precarious position than this after the incredible heroism and dedication to duty.

Simply mounted on a black frame this is available and measures 50cm W x 40cm H.

• Iraq
• Afghanistan

This has been a great honour to create this for Speedy aka Trevor Coult MC I hope it is a unique and personal way of remembering both his service and sacrifice.

I met him when I went out as the CONCO for my company to Sangin, Afghanistan, Op Herrick 9 in 2008 and was paired with him for a month before the Relief in Place of our Troops.

You may or may not know but he was awarded the Military Cross during Operations in Iraq.

To all those who made the Ultimate Sacrifice…

~ More than COMFORT ~

On Friday, I was extremely fortunate to be gifted and receive this beautiful handmade quilt from two very thoughtful people who I now call great friends.

How lucky am I to receive such a unique, personalised hand crafted item with the Corps colours, Poppies, military hardware and the infamous remembrance quote as shown.

I absolutely love this and will cherish it beyond belief, it’s hard to convey the quality and workmanship in this and I don’t know what I have done to deserve this but I am eternally thankful and grateful.

Did you know…

Quilts for the Longest Day is a community sewing initiative that creates and donates handmade patchwork quilts to military veterans. Originally started to mark the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings, the group continues to sew and gift these items while helping reduce social isolation through regular making sessions.

Thursdays Throwback to getting some lead down range with the nods whilst doing a bullet pe*******on demo with differing weapons old and new.

Great times especially the Chad dancing in Sandy Bay caravan park that evening.

~ Combined ~

Once again I have been experimenting with the leaves from the Poppy Flowers which are currently growing outside my art studio.

For some reason it was hard to capture the colour correctly on camera but with these concepts and ideas I am just exploring art with the poppies in differing ways and mediums.

Does it work? I don’t quite know the answer and I’m sure you are better placed than me to form your own conclusion but for now I shall keep creating.

Work in progress of using the Poppy Leaves, experimenting with different colours!

No specific design, just going with the flow.

Who knows how they will turn out but it’s something different; the patterns and colours intrigue me!

~ So Few ~

Today, on National Bomber Command Day, we remember the extraordinary courage and sacrifice of the men who served with RAF Bomber Command during WW2.
Of approximately 125,000 aircrew, 55,573 lost their lives — a devastating death rate of around 44%. A further 8,403 were wounded and 9,838 became prisoners of war.
Bomber Command crews flew more than 501,000 sorties, with 8,325 aircraft lost in action. Many were incredibly young, with the average age at death just 23 years old.
While many came from Britain, Bomber Command also included men from across the Commonwealth and occupied Europe, including Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Poland, France and Czechoslovakia.
Today, we honour their bravery, their service and their sacrifice.

This has been gifted by a niece to her uncle who served with them and will be a lovely little surprise when they receive it in the post.

I love adding the accompanying notes on peoples behalf’s when they gift one and feel it gives it that extra personal touch.

The Conflict Poppy……a momento and keepsake which is personal to the recipient to reflect both service and sacrifice!
