Our latest Tripadvisor review: “Bell Cottage was lovely and was fully equipped, really comfy beds and seating. The site had a games room with pool, table tennis and foosball. A fantastic couple as hosts who were very welcoming and easy to communicate with. Thank you for sharing your delightful cottage with us!”

We often enjoy some pretty amazing sunsets here at School Farm, but earlier this evening our guests watched the solar eclipse over the pond with their special specs on! Did you watch it?

Our latest Tripadvisor review: “Perfect stay in a rural Suffolk village. Three night stay in July. We used all 4 of the lovely cottages and were fortunate to have sole use of the games room which was made into a sewing room for us. Our hosts, Claire and David greeted us and couldn’t have been more helpful during our stay. The cottages were very clean, well maintained and comfortable. We will definitely return later in the year for an Autumn sewing retreat.”

Like so many others we have been left heartbroken by the total devastation from the fire at Dunwich Heath, which is one of the UK's most important coastal heathland landscapes, one of our favourite places, and loved by so many of our guests. So sad.

To our guests visiting on holiday this weekend who may have been thinking of visiting Dunwich - please avoid the area as Suffolk Fire Services continue to deal with a significant fire at Dunwich Heath and the surrounding areas. National Trust Dunwich Heath, Westleton Walks and the reserve at RSPB Minsmere are closed. Our thoughts are with those still tackling the fire, residents nearby and all those affected 🙏🏻

Due to the ongoing nature and seriousness of the fire at Dunwich Heath, we are strongly urging the public to avoid visiting Dunwich Beach and the surrounding areas.

We understand that the warm weather makes a trip to the coast very appealing, but for everyone's safety we are asking people to stay away from the area at this time.

It is essential that the area and surrounding roads are kept clear to allow emergency services to carry out their work safely and effectively, and to help protect members of the public.

When out enjoying Suffolk's beautiful countryside, please continue to follow our safety advice and help us by:

🚭 Disposing of ci******es and matches safely and never throwing them from a vehicle.
🚗 Avoiding parking on dry grass, as hot exhausts can quickly ignite vegetation.
🔥 Not using disposable barbecues unless they are permitted in a designated area, and ensuring they are fully extinguished after use.
❌ Not lighting fires in the countryside or other unsuitable locations. Bonfires can wait, and fire pits are best avoided during these dry conditions.

If you see a fire in the open:

📞 Get to a safe distance and call 999.
📍 Use the free what3words app to provide an accurate location to the emergency services.

A few simple precautions can make a huge difference in protecting Suffolk's countryside, communities and wildlife.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

We visited The Little Farm Kitchen this morning, a lovely new little cafe in the nearby village of Metfield. Great coffee, homemade sausage rolls, scones and lots of other freshly baked delights as well as a comprehensive breakfast and light lunch menu. Beautiful views over farmland from the seating area at the back too.
