New Moon Prayer 🙏🏼
Grandmother Moon has hidden her face
so we may remember how to listen
without seeing,
how to trust
without knowing.
We place our burdens upon the Earth gently.
We place our grief into the hands of the ancestors.
We place our prayers into the wind.
May this new moon cleanse the thoughts
that do not belong to love.
May it sweep from our bodies
the heaviness we have carried for too long.
May it cool the fires of anger,
and awaken the sacred ember of compassion.
Great Mother,
teach us again how to walk in balance.
Teach us to speak with kindness to the waters,
to bless the seeds before planting,
to honor the stones,
the trees,
the winged ones,
the crawling ones,
the two-leggeds,
and all our relations.
Tonight we remember
that even in darkness
there is creation happening.
The seed grows in darkness.
The child grows in darkness.
Dreams are born in darkness.
Ancestors who walked before us,
sit beside our fires.
Help us release what has ended.
Help us open the road ahead with clear hearts.
Help us become people who bring healing
where there has been division.
For those who are sick, bring strength.
For those who are lonely, bring belonging.
For those who are weary in spirit, bring rest.
For the children yet to come,
let us leave a world with clean waters,
living soil,
and songs still rising at dawn.
Under this new moon,
we begin again.
Not as masters of the Earth,
but as humble caretakers.
Not above creation,
but within it.
Aho.
May it be so.
