Get ready for the day ahead with a clear and calm mind - in only one minute.

Before you even get out of bed, try following this simple breathing technique which is a great breathing tool that can be done anywhere to help with the feelings of anxiety.

Breath in for a count of 4 through the nose, and breath out for a count of 4 through your mouth. Breath in for a count of 4 breath, now breathe out for a count of 8. Continue this sequence for 60 seconds.

Here are some other key practices to include in your morning routine.

✔️ Resist the urge to immediately check your phone or emails.

✔️ Stretch for 5–10 minutes, or find a gentle yoga or mobility routine that can help discharge some of the nervous energy.

✔️ Aim for a good breakfast. Anxiety can worsen if your blood sugar drops. Have foods containing the following.
➡️ Protein (eggs, Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, protein smoothie)
➡️ Healthy fats (nuts, seeds, avocado)
➡️ Fibre-rich carbohydrates (berries, oats, wholegrain toast)

✔️ If you notice anxiety peaks after coffee, try eating before drinking coffee, or at least have a glass of water. Or try delaying caffeine by 60–90 minutes after waking to see if that helps.

However, if morning anxiety is happening most days for several weeks, is getting worse, or is interfering with work, relationships, or daily life, it's worth speaking with your GP.

If you’re over 40 and suddenly feel like your body has changed overnight, you’re not imagining it.

It's funny how people think just because your a health coach you must be super human 😂.
Even though I've been in the health, fitness & wellness industry pretty much all my working life I too have to practice the healthy habits that I coach to other women.

Over the years I've noticed changes in my energy (I LOVE the feeling of having energy), I've had increased cravings, and definitely body composition changes. I've never had any bother with sleep (I take that from my dad) but it's one of the biggest complaints I get from clients.
I've woken up and 'felt out of sorts', a day of unexplained anxiety...and lets not even mention alcohol tolerance 😂.

I may be a health coach, but I am also a 51 year old menopausal woman. And that's why I need to practice the daily healthy habits that I coach to others to feel as good as I can.

I am here to tell you, help you and reassure you that your body hasn't failed you. Your strategy simply needs to change.

Which one are you struggling with most?

Comment ENERGY, SLEEP or WEIGHT.

Sleep isn’t just “rest” it’s one of the main regulators of your hormonal system.

When sleep is off, hormones tend to follow. We've all experienced poor sleep, and its not pretty, especially on a regular basis. One night is bad enough but a lot of women haven't had a decent nights sleep in weeks or months - sometimes years!

But there are things we can do & steps that we can take.

1. Anchor your sleep-wake time. Go to bed and wake up at roughly the same time—even on weekends. This stabilises your circadian rhythm (and cortisol curve).

2. Get morning light exposure 10–20 minutes of daylight within an hour of waking helps regulate
Cortisol (healthy spike in the morning) and melatonin production later at night.

3. Eat in a hormone-friendly way
Prioritise protein + fibre to stabilise blood sugar.
Avoid heavy sugar/alcohol late evening as this disrupts your sleep cycle.
Consider a small protein + carb snack before bed if waking at 3am (can help cortisol dips)

4. Create a wind-down routine. Think of it as a safety signal to your nervous system. Dim lights, no intense workouts late evening (people do this and think it'll exhaust you so you'll sleep).
Try reading, stretching, or breathwork.

5. Manage stimulants as best you can.
Cut off caffeine by early afternoon. Even small amounts of alcohol can disrupt sleep.

6. Support magnesium levels. Magnesium can help with relaxation and sleep quality (especially forms like glycinate). Listen to the video to get some food ideas.

7. Cool, dark sleep environment. Particularly important if experiencing night sweats. Have a cooler room, breathable bedding and minimal light exposure.

Sleep is your hormone reset button. When sleep is off, your hunger, stress, and fat-storage hormones all get louder—making everything feel harder than it should.

You'll be amazed how 'other things just fall onto place' when sleep is good. But remember and be patient. Consistency with these practices are key to getting the results.

No quick fixes, just sustainable results 💖

Your workout buddy may be your secret weapon!

Sarah & Fran work out together every single week, and I love watching them encourage each other, have a laugh and still put in the work.

They challenge themselves, encourage each other and have fun (well thats what they tell me anyway 😂)

Sometimes having someone beside you is exactly what gets you through that last rep.

You don't have to be super fit to start.

You don't have to know what you're doing.

And you definitely don't have to do it alone.

Wether its in a gym, or training outside find someone who makes you want to turn up — and get moving together.

During perimenopause and beyond, strength training becomes about so much more than just changing the way your body looks.

As our hormones change, we can start to lose muscle and bone density more quickly. We might notice changes in our body shape, feel weaker, experience more aches and pains, or simply not feel like ourselves anymore - sound familiar?

This is where lifting weights can make a huge difference.

Strength training helps us to build and maintain muscle, support strong bones, improve balance and mobility, and feel stronger and more confident in our bodies.

And the good news? You don’t have to be lifting heavy weights straight away or spending hours in the gym.

You simply need to start where you are and gradually build from there.
That’s exactly why I created my 12-Week Thrive Through Menopause Programme.

It’s designed to help women over 40 build strength, understand their changing bodies and create healthy habits around nutrition, movement and lifestyle.

This stage of life isn’t about trying to turn back the clock.
It’s about giving your body what it needs to feel strong, capable and confident for the years ahead. Staying independent and still being able to live a life of ease in 5, 10, 15, 20 years time.

If you’re ready to stop just surviving perimenopause and start thriving through it, my 12-week programme could be exactly what you’ve been looking for.
