Year One’s DT unit has been about stable structures. We began by being creative with construction toys which helped us think about strong foundations and structures having a wider base 🛕🗼. We had a visit from one of our parents who does this as part of his job. He told us about how he uses the skills we are learning about to build roads🛣️ and bridges🌉 and how important teamwork is 👫 We worked as teams to make strong structures from recycled materials 📦 then moved on to using plasticine, straws and pipe cleaners. Today we have used all our learning to create strong pencil pots that we can use at home ✏️

Year One had a fun filled day out at Imagine That last week. They explored the science zone, enjoyed the scientist show, made their own slime and snow, took on many different roles in the role play zone, and got creative making their own magnets.

In our final RE lesson of the term, year 2 explored global Christianity and how Christians across our globe continue the work of Jesus powered by the Holy Spirit 🔥

Year 2 were asked to make kites with suggested acts of kindness and Mrs Livesey has challenged the children to take them on their journeys over the summer holidays to Cornwall, Wales, Scotland, France, Spain, Turkey and even Jamaica so Grimsargh St Michael’s can help spread the Holy Spirit across our world 🪁

If you fly a kite in another country, please email into the school office some pictures! We can’t wait to see where are messages travel to 🌍

The children wrote little notes to invite everyone in school and we had some guest appearances from Mr Booth, Miss Smith and Mrs Wane! The children worked hard to welcome our guests and enjoyed some relaxation time themselves 🙌🏻

Year One recently had two very special visitors to help us with our PSHE🩵
We have been thinking about how much we have changed from being a tiny baby, then a toddler and now we’re all 5 and 6 years old. We’ve discovered that we have learnt lots and we can do so much now too! Mrs Aspinall surprised us with a visit along with baby Freddie to tell us all about caring for new baby, all the things they need and why 👶🏼🍼

Take a look at our wonderful entries for the Goosnargh and Longridge Show. We were extremely proud of all the children for letting their lights shine in the community. We even came away with a few winners! We are already looking forward to next year.
