As a reminder, please note that all pupils return tomorrow (Friday 4th September) and need to enter via the gate before 8.30am. The school day will finish at 3pm on a Monday and Friday, and at 4pm on a Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

🎭🎨🔨 A Huge Thank You to PMI Offcuts! 🔨🎨🎭

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to PMI Offcuts for their generous donation of materials to the Art, Technology and Performing Arts Departments at Great Yarmouth Charter Academy.

These resources will be put to fantastic use in the creation of props, scenery and set pieces for our upcoming projects and productions, providing valuable opportunities for our students to develop their creativity and practical skills.

We are incredibly grateful for PMI Offcuts' time, generosity and support of education. Community partnerships like this make a real difference and help bring our students' creative ideas to life.

Proud moment for Great Yarmouth Charter Academy! 🌟

For the second year in a row, every pupil has taken part in a face-to-face work experience programme, connecting with employers and providers across Norfolk.
From healthcare, education and hospitality to law, insurance, finance, creative industries and training, pupils developed confidence, teamwork and communication skills. A special highlight was our partnership with IntoUniversity, Aviva, UEA and local employers, helping pupils see clear routes into employment, apprenticeships and further study.

Huge thanks to all partners who opened doors for our pupils’ futures.

🎭🌟 GYCA Celebrates First London Performing Arts Residential 🌟🎭

Our pupils have returned inspired after an unforgettable West End experience! From workshops with theatre professionals and backstage tours to live performances and cultural visits, pupils gained invaluable insight into the world of performing arts. A fantastic opportunity to build confidence, creativity and ambition as we look ahead to Matilda in February 2027. Huge thanks to Mr Edwards-Gill and staff for making this landmark trip possible.

♻️🧵 Year 10 Textiles – Sustainable Corset Project 🧵♻️

Our talented Year 10 Textiles students have been transforming discarded hotel tablecloths into stunning, sustainable corsets as part of a focused design brief.

Students developed advanced construction techniques, creating fully lined corsets incorporating boning channels, eyelets and laced fastenings. They then personalised their designs with intricate box pleat detailing and beautiful yo-yo surface decorations, showcasing both creativity and technical skill.

This project highlights the importance of upcycling and sustainable fashion, encouraging students to see the potential in materials that might otherwise be discarded while developing industry-standard garment construction techniques.

We are incredibly proud of the craftsmanship, resilience and originality demonstrated throughout this project.

🏕️🛠️ Year 9 Design & Technology – Emergency Shelter Challenge 🛠️🏕️

Our Year 9 students have been putting their creativity and problem-solving skills to the test by designing and constructing emergency shelters from paper and board.

Working to a design brief, students explored how shelters can provide protection, stability and practical living space in emergency situations. They developed their ideas through sketches and modelling before creating their final prototypes, demonstrating excellent teamwork, resilience and innovation throughout the project.

We are incredibly proud of the imaginative solutions our students produced, showcasing both their design skills and their understanding of real-world challenges.
