Story Explorers Where favourite books come to life through sensory play, music, and community. Boost early literacy, communication & confidence!

Based in Wirral, Story Explorers offers interactive storytelling sessions for children up to 6 & their grown-ups. Story Explorers (established in 2015) is a children’s group activity class for children aged 5 and under to explore well-known stories together, run by Claire Jackson, an MA-level trained actor and practitioner.

£6 per child with sibling discount £3 for 40 mins exploring. Through various methods including singing, sensory activities, baby signing and craft, the children learn through themed classes. The classes are specially created to help children to learn and develop educationally and socially through shared experience with a maximum of 15 children. Each week is themed around a well-known book such as The Gruffalo, We're Going On A Bear Hunt and The Tiger Who Came To Tea to name just a few. There's a world of possibilities in each book so, even if we revisit books, each session will be different! Sessions will be held locally on the Wirral but also available for parties / celebrations. We’re getting a little bit spooky and a lot of bit festive as we dive into the wonderful world of Meg and Mog! 🐱🎃

Join us for a magical witchy story, then get stuck in making our very own bubble paint pictures! 🫧🎨 It’s going to be gloriously messy, so please don’t wear your best clothes! We’ll finish the session with bubbles and dancing. 💃🕺

Story Explorers is a warm, welcoming group for little ones aged 4 and under, and their parents, grandparents and carers. Every session has the EYFS framework at its heart, so the children are learning through play, stories, music and creativity. We keep our group small so that every child has the chance to build confidence in their own time. 💛

Most of all, Story Explorers is about coming together. It’s a chance to meet other families, share a story, have a laugh and be part of a lovely community. Children and grown-ups love it, and we’d love to see you there!

🧚✨ Story Explorers this week: Freddie and the Fairy! ✨🧚

Join us for a magical session based on the much-loved story by Julia Donaldson. It's a lovely way to talk about disability and to think about others, in a way little ones can understand.

This week we'll be:
🤟 Learning some new signs
🍂 Exploring autumn sensory trays
🐸 Singing a song about frogs
🫧 Finishing with bubbles and dancing!

Story Explorers is a welcoming group for little ones aged 4 and under, and their parents, grandparents and carers. Our sessions have the EYFS framework at their heart, so children are learning through play, stories, songs and sensory exploration. We keep our groups small so every child has the chance to build confidence at their own pace.

The best part is the community. Coming together, chatting, singing and sharing a story is so important for little ones and for the grown-ups too. Children and parents tell us they love it, and we'd love to see you there! 💛

Freddie and the Fairy by Julia Donaldson and Karen George.

Julia Donaldson said -

This book is really about lip-reading. I am hard of hearing, and had toyed for a long time with the idea of writing a story about a deaf character. Then in 2013 the bookshop Waterstones asked me to write a story for a competition called “Picture This”, to find a new illustrator, and I decided that the moment had come!

About a thousand would-be illustrators entered the competition. They all drew the main characters from the story, and then the six runners-up had to draw some of the scenes. The winner was the exceptionally talented Karen George who has gone on to illustrate another of my books and a few of her own.

Deaf children love to read stories about people like themselves and to spot hearing aids in the pictures, and I have had lots of heart-warming letters about this book.
