It is an outstanding school and an exceptionally successful, challenging and enjoyable place for young people and teachers to learn together. Our sports teams frequently achieve success at county, regional and national level. Our new £1.4 million Badminton Centre and Sports Hall opened in May 2012 in partnership with Badminton England and allows further exciting opportunities for our students and
the wider community. Drama and Music performances are of an exceptionally high standard, and the school even has its own Shakespeare Company. Our students enter competitions in Mathematics, Product Design, Art, Science and Public Speaking as well as many other areas, and this breadth of experience is fundamental to our development of self aware and responsive young people who are ready to make a contribution in their community. As a school community we are committed to the values we wish to instil in our students: we encourage and develop responsibility, leadership, team work, integrity, respect and resilience. We expect the highest standards in behaviour and in attitudes to learning, and we support each and every child in their quests to achieve their very best. At our last inspection, OfSTED judged the school to be ‘Outstanding’ and stated: ‘Students make outstanding progress’ but we will not be resting on that accolade. I am delighted that William Edwards was named Educational Establishment of the year for 2014 at the ERA Awards in Birmingham. This is testament to the hard work of everyone associated with the school. Together with you and your children, we will be reaching further and higher each year, to ensure that your child’s school experience provides them with the very best start to their future life, whatever that may hold.
