INSET Day

This afternoon, Paul, Amy and Dougie led an inspiring training session for staff in our newly revamped Sensory Room. The session explored a range of approaches, from effective basic setups to more creative and advanced sensory experiences, helping staff maximise the potential of this exciting learning environment.

Colleagues were introduced to the new touchscreen controls, cause-and-effect technology, switch-access options, and techniques for creating immersive backdrops to enhance sensory storytelling. The session concluded with a demonstration of a sensory story based on Treasure Island, showcasing how technology and creativity can be combined to create engaging, meaningful experiences for our students.

Professional development opportunities like this ensure staff continue to develop the skills, confidence, and knowledge needed to deliver highly personalised and inclusive learning experiences that meet the diverse needs of all learners.

INSET Day

This morning, staff took part in an engaging Forest School session led by Mr Roberts. Colleagues had the opportunity to experience first-hand some of the activities our students regularly access, gaining a deeper understanding of the learning opportunities and benefits they provide.

Forest School supports the development of key life skills, including resilience, independence, self-management, self-belief, and teamwork. By immersing themselves in these experiences, staff were able to reflect on how outdoor learning can be used to promote personal growth, wellbeing, and positive outcomes for our students.

Professional development opportunities such as this help us continue to strengthen our practice and ensure that every learning experience is purposeful, enriching, and student-centred.
