What is Animal-Assisted Interventions (AAI)? 🐴🐾

Many people have heard of therapy dogs or "horse therapy", but fewer know that there's a whole professional field behind it.

Animal-Assisted Interventions (AAI) are structured, goal-led approaches that bring animals into therapeutic, educational and community settings to support wellbeing, communication and emotional regulation. It's not just "spending time with animals". It's planned, ethical practice with the animal's welfare at its heart.

So what jobs sit within AAI?

Our CPD-accredited Introduction to Animal-Assisted Interventions is a hands-on day on a real working farm, led by our experts. You'll learn the core principles of The Elysian Approach, see how AAI works in practice, and reflect on best practice, ethics and animal welfare.

Whether you're brand new to animal assisted interventions or ready to build a professional qualification, we have a course for you.

📅 Introduction to AAI | Sunday 25th Oct (more dates online)
A hands-on, CPD accredited day (9:30am to 4pm) at Elysian Shamley Green in Surrey. Learn the core principles of AAI and The Elysian Approach, see the benefits for wellbeing, emotional regulation and communication, and spend time learning with the animals. It suits educators, care professionals, therapists, support workers and anyone curious about AAI, and it's the foundation for several of our advanced programmes. £180.

📅 Level 3 Award: Fundamentals in AAI
140 hours of guided learning over five modules, combining online learning, live webinar workshops and an in-person practical day at one of our farms. You'll cover ethics, safeguarding, animal welfare, working with different client groups, and reflective practice. It's designed for people working in education, care and therapeutic settings.
