The Fintry Trust has just held another Summer School to remember – on the theme of ‘𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘈𝘳𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘈𝘸𝘢𝘬𝘦𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨’ – hosted by Sally & Jean-Paul Jeanrenaud, and Murray Morison, 23-26 July 2026.
Together we explored the nature of inspiration, the creative process, and the idea of Integral Art — arts that can be practical, expressive, healing, intellectual and spiritual.
Highlights included co-creating a nature-mandala in the gardens, as well as a stunning sand-mandala facilitated by artists Daniel Bowler and Holly Foskett-Barnes, through its phases of sacred creation and destruction.
We had the privilege of talking to contemporary artist Freya Purdue about her paintings and her artistic journey. We also enjoyed an evening of music and poetry with Jessica Webster and Julia Cousins, and had a memorable visit to the beautiful Watt's Chapel in Compton.
Above all, it was the people who made the event so special. Thank you to everyone who came with such openness, curiosity and generosity of spirit. It was a joy to learn, create, and reflect together.
A special thanks to Florence Harry for the daily yoga sessions, to Andrew Pena for volunteering, and to the Fintry staff for such wonderful homemade food, and beautiful gardens.
We leave inspired by a sense of community, and by the reminder that art is not only something we create — it is also a way of seeing, connecting and awakening.
Thank you to everyone who made this Summer School such a memorable experience.
We look forward to welcoming you to Fintry again soon.
