A little look back at some of my summer online 11+ sessions ☀️

Thank you to the children and parents who joined me over the holidays.

Across the sessions, we worked on a mixture of maths reasoning, problem solving, comprehension, vocabulary and grammar, with lots of opportunities for children to explain their thinking and try different strategies.

The sessions were designed to strengthen key skills for 11+ preparation while keeping the learning interactive and manageable over the summer. Short follow-up tasks were also provided to help children revisit what we had covered between sessions.

I’ve really enjoyed teaching the sessions and seeing the children grow in confidence with their reasoning and explanations.

A 1:1 in-person tuition space has become available in the Innsworth / Longford area from 24th September.

This 30-minute Thursday after-school session would be well suited to a child who would benefit from focused support in English, maths or phonics, whether that is building confidence, strengthening a particular area or addressing gaps in learning.

It's hard to believe we're already well into the summer holidays! If you're starting to think ahead to September, now is a great time to think about your child's 11+ journey.

If your child is moving into Year 4 or Year 5 and you're considering the Gloucestershire 11+, my small online groups offer a supportive and structured way to build confidence and strengthen maths, English and reasoning skills.

I keep my groups deliberately small so that I can get to know each child, plan activities around those attending and make sure everyone has opportunities to contribute.

📚 Summer 11+ Online Groups – Booking Reminder

My Summer 11+ Online Groups begin next Tuesday, 28th July, and bookings for these sessions close this Friday (24th July).

You don't need to book the whole programme. Each session can be booked individually, with bookings remaining open until the Friday before each session (subject to availability), making it easy to fit around holidays and other summer plans.

Next Tuesday's sessions:

⭐ Year 4 – Maths Reasoning & Key Skills (12:30–1:45pm)

⭐ Year 5 – Fractions, Decimals & Percentages (2:15–3:30pm)

⭐ Year 5 – Non-Verbal Reasoning Strategies (10:30am–12:00pm)

Please note that, although it is now the summer holidays, the groups are named after the school year your child has just completed (for example, children moving into Year 5 would book the Year 4 groups).

☀️ The summer holidays can be the perfect opportunity to give your child a little extra boost before September.

Current Year 5? Here's how I can help with 11+ preparation!

If your child is just finishing Year 5 and will be sitting the 11+ this September, my online summer groups are designed to strengthen key skills, build confidence and help children feel prepared for the exams.

Sessions include:
• Maths skills and reasoning
• Comprehension and vocabulary
• Grammar and punctuation
• Exam technique
• Separate Verbal & Non-Verbal Reasoning sessions

Sessions are taught live in small, interactive groups using Pencil Spaces and are suitable for children preparing for GL-style 11+ assessments.

If your child is just finishing Year 4 and will be starting Year 5 in September, now is a great time to build confidence before the 11+.

Over the summer, I offer online small-group 11+ Foundations sessions covering:
• English comprehension and vocabulary
• Maths reasoning and key skills
• Grammar and sentence skills

These sessions are designed to strengthen the core skills needed for the 11+ before the new school year begins.

From September, children moving into Year 5 are welcome to continue their preparation by joining my weekly online Year 5 11+ Preparation group, building on the foundations developed over the summer.

📢 Gloucestershire Grammar School Registration Reminder

If your child is currently in Year 5 and you are considering applying for a Gloucestershire grammar school place, don't forget that registration for the Gloucestershire Grammar School Test closes on 26th June 2026. https://g7.applicaa.com/

Even if you are still weighing up your options, it is usually worth registering before the deadline, if you are considering putting your child in for the exam.
