Early STEM engagement is the key to unlocking the full potential of the next generation.

There is a large amount of research from around the world that highlights the importance of engaging young people in STEM early. Making career choices starts at a very early age. That's why engaging with young people between the ages of 10-14 is crucial for developing career aspirations.

By age 16, many young people have already significantly narrowed their career choices. At 10–14, the possibilities are still endless.

By bridging the gap between industry and education, SmartSTEMs gives young minds the chance to connect directly with hands-on experiences and collaborate with industry experts. This turns curiosity into practical skills and inspires the next generation of innovators.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is increasingly becoming part of all our lives, whether we like it or not, and being AI literate is more important than ever for the future workforce.

At SmartSTEMs, we are conducting a large-scale research project to explore how AI is currently being used by staff and pupils in schools across the UK. We are doing this to figure out how we can best support UK schools, staff, and pupils as they navigate the world of AI.

There is nothing quite like watching a young person's face light up when they solve a hands-on challenge, connect with a new concept, or see how STEM plays a part in their everyday lives.

Looking back at our recent events, we are feeling incredibly grateful for everyone, including the pupils, teachers, volunteers and partners who brought so much energy to them.
