Glasgow Student Housing Co-op

Glasgow Student Housing Co-op Founded in November 2016, we are the only student housing co-operative in Glasgow working to provide Registered number: 4374.

We believe that a housing co-op is an effective way to combat increasing rent prices, and provide a democratically controlled living environment. Collectively, members of a co-op take on the role of landlord and have a direct say in their living conditions. There are many different kinds of co-ops: housing, food, consumer, worker-owned… Generally, all co-operatives follow the Rochdale Principles:

Autonomy and Independence
Education, Training and Information
Co-operation among Co-operatives
Concern for Community

DIY Skills are invaluable at Glasgow Student Housing Co-operative. While our flat was already in beautiful condition when we moved in, no 130-year old Glasgow Tenement comes without a few bits of maintenance needing done. Today, member Emil’s had out her famous ‘box of tricks’ and been hanging up coatracks, and filling cracks in the plaster in the walk-in cupboard. After a light sanding and a lick of paint, the repair will be invisible.
