We’re hearing from Nancy Loucks, OBE, from Families Outside who is discussing the impact on children, young people and families when a parent / family member is affected by imprisonment.

“Children are 2-3 times more likely to suffer from mental ill health”.

In many cases if a mother is imprisoned children will often no longer able to stay in the family home - often going to stay with other family members or into a care setting.

Our pupils across our schools took the opportunity to organise a small gesture with a big message of thanks. They hand-delivered thoughtful gift bags to the adults whose encouragement helps them discover what they’re capable of.

For our young people, the right support in the classroom can be the moment they start to believe in themselves.

Pupils put enterprise in action with teacher Aileen, making the gift bags while exploring how ideas can grow into future social businesses.

Today we’ve gathered practitioners together to celebrate 4 years of SAFE - a vital community-based service which helps young people & families heal after crime or harm.

🗣️ We’ve got a busy day ahead where we’ll be hearing the voices of young people & families, sharing practice & exploring ways we can better work together to improve systems and enhance support for victims.
