You can have a billion pounds, loads of possessions, the fancy house, the husband etc and have a miserable life... or not much money, a small circle of friends and family, a tiny apartment or flatshare - and have a wonderful life. ⠀

It all comes down to the patterns of emotions you have. Our thoughts create our feelings and our feelings create our realities. ⠀
⠀
If your brain always comes back to feeling frustrated and angry, then that will dictate the quality of your life - regardless of what is going on externally.⠀
⠀
If you have certain emotions and unhealed wounds, it won’t matter whether Covid is here or not, how much you achieve, if you find the love of your life, if you lose that weight...you will still be miserable. ⠀
⠀
If you can find a way to master your INTERNAL emotions - where you have more gratitude, more joy, more passion, more purpose, more love - your life will completely transform.⠀
⠀
The way we measure our lives is how we feel and yet most of us are not emotionally fit. ⠀
⠀
This is where healing work comes in.⠀
⠀
If you wire yourself to be in the best emotional state, to heal old wounds and break recurring, subconscious patterns, everything around you will change - because deep down it’s our emotional state that controls everything that we do.⠀

I used to be one of those people who apologises to the door when I accidentally brushed against it.⠀
⠀
If someone bumped into me, I’d utter the word ‘sorry’ before I’d even realised what had happened. ⠀
Sorry seems to be the hardest word? Nuh uh, not for me. I was 100% an over-apologiser. Sometimes I said sorry for saying sorry.⠀
⠀
I apologised when things were my fault, when they weren’t and for anything in between.⠀
⠀
Do you relate?⠀
⠀
Of course apologies are necessary - when you cancel plans or let someone down or turn up late, for example - but when you start apologising for things that are not your fault or for simply being you or for your opinions...then this often correlates with low self-esteem and starts to hit your confidence more and adds to self-blame and shame.⠀
⠀
So how can you shift things?⠀
⠀
Firstly, stop and think if this apology is warranted. ⠀
⠀
Another way is to use more empowering language. So rather than saying ‘I’m sorry for venting’ perhaps say ‘Thank you for listening’⠀
⠀
It’s time to kick the apology habit and take back your power. Stop minimising yourself and your presence girl! ⠀
⠀

One of my best friends got married and had a baby during the pandemic - and today I got to see her for the first time since and meet the little one. (She lives too far away for us to have travelled before now!) ⠀

It’s got me feeling reflective about the past year and a half.⠀

We so often focus on what we’ve lost and forget about what we’ve gained (and I don’t just mean the pounds 😩😀 Just me?)
⠀
It’s made me realise what’s important. It’s made me turn inwards. It’s made me realise that the only thing in my control is my own reactions to things. And that’s ok. It’s made me question my beliefs and identity and affirm them. It’s forced me to slow down. And be home by 10pm 👏🏻⠀
⠀
And now that we are returning to ‘normal’ I’m definitely taking some of the ‘lockdown rules’ forward in my own life. ⠀

I just made a choice.⠀

One day, I made the decision to change my narrative. And started the work.⠀
⠀
I didn’t suddenly get the external validation I thought I needed or miraculously lose all the fears I held - and my self-doubts and critical thoughts and conditioning didn’t just vanish like magic. ⠀
⠀
They are still there and I live with them most days. But I turned the volume down.⠀
⠀
I made a choice that I no longer wanted to feel the way I did, I no longer wanted to stay stuck, I no longer wanted to keep playing small, no longer wanted to settle for treatment I didn’t deserve, I no longer wanted to feel like I wasn’t enough or that I was too much, I no longer wanted to be my own worst enemy.⠀
⠀
I could have chosen to give up on love and my dreams and keep living the disempowered version of myself OR step up and create the reality I was LONGING for.⠀
⠀
I’m just a girl who DECIDED to unbound herself and choose a new story. ⠀
⠀
And then I committed to that new narrative.⠀
⠀
