The approach to early education has moved to play based over the years, due to more knowledge and being better informed.

If I am engaged, having fun, leading my own learning, then I am more likely to be motivated to repeat and learn. Or be curious enough to find out more. Be active and absorbed.

Adult directed learning that children NEED to take part in (reflecting an 'old school' approach in ELC), can often lead to boredom, less engagement and the child feeling obliged to take part, rather than through their own motivation. Or children feeling 'tested' and under pressure.

Balance is good aslong as practitioners understand what motivates the children and they have the choice to take part or not. Being a successful learner requires motivation and engagement.

Tonight we had our monthly team meeting. We focused on Self Evaluation around Quality Indicator 1.3 'Play and Learning' to reflect on;

How are we doing?
How do we know?
What are we going to do now?

This will help inform improvement planning along with other self evaluation activities that will take place with children, parents, staff and outside partner agencies.

We played a quick game of 'stand up/sit down bingo' - well done to Jennifer who won a Lindt Easter egg, and to Lauren who won an extra day of annual leave👏👏🥰

A hot drink station and Easter treats were available for all of the team in the staffroom as a token of appreciation for their hard work each and everyday 🌟💛

The Spring Family Fayre raffle was drawn yesterday and we have been in touch with the lucky winners of our 65 prizes!!

The total raised for from our event is £1725 🎊👏

A lovely opportunity to bring our nursery community and wider community together.
