I was lovely today at Vintage Fair. Lots of people and great sunny weather. And on street baked pizza was delicious :) Another fair is coming to Rothbury before Christmas, hopefully Mili's Teapot will be able to make it.

We are coming to Vintage Rothbury Fair this Sunday! Entertainment, great food and lots of interesting stalls. Find out more at Vintage Rothbury Fair page. Come and visit Mili's Teapot stall :)

Vintage Rothbury is Back … and this time it’s RURAL!!

Sunday 18th September 2016
Rothbury Village centre
11.00am – 5.00pm

As part of Rothbury’s celebrations for the return of our 150 year old, newly restored organ to All Saints’ Church we will rerun of our Vintage Rothbury Fair.

All Saints’ Church will be open all day with tours of the organ and displays of its history and its restoration story and the village will be full of things to see, buy and do.

Last time Vintage Rothbury won everyone’s heart with its campaign for local defibrillators – all of which are now installed and one of which has actually been used to help someone.

This time Vintage Rothbury has taken as its inspiration, the lives and times of local folk over the organ’s 150 years. So in addition to market stalls selling vintage items, crafts and artisanal foods there will be a large range of traditional rural skills on display including (at the time of writing) dry stone walling, butter making, bee keeping, basket weaving, wool spinning and weaving, stick dressing, potting, wheat milling, rag rug making and quilting.

Listen to the makers’ stories, watch their demonstrations and have a go yourself.

Some of the North East's key museums will be with us for the day.

** Children can dress up in Victorian costumes and play with Victorian toys courtesy of our friends at Alnwick’s Bailiffgate Museum.

** Rothbury’s year of remembrance of the centenary of the start of the Battle of the Somme will continue as the lovely volunteers from the Blythe Battery will set up an army encampment and kitchen serving traditional army brew and soup.

** Beamish Museum’s amazing Remaking Beamish project will join us in Rothbury for the day and they have a very special Northumbrian story to tell us – what this space for more details.

There will be fun for all the family too – old school fair rides like shuggy boats, games such as a coconut shie and a strike, a traditional fairground test of strength (seeking Coquetdale’s very own Ross Poldark!), will be joined by a bouncy castle, a roundabout, toffee apples, candy floss and traditional sweeties.

We are very happy to offer stalls to local good causes – just get in touch for a chat. We can accommodate musicians if you’d like to entertain the crowds – just DM your contact details. If you can add a game or a fair attraction, we’d love to hear from you.

So save the date and keep checking in as we announce details of our traders and visitors over the next couple of weeks.

Oh and Rothbury – spread the word. Good times are coming!!
