💼 What the Autumn Budget Means for Employers?

Last week’s Autumn Budget 2025 added fresh momentum to the UK skills agenda with changes that will shape how organisations develop people, plan for the future and attract new talent.

Rather than focusing only on rules and timelines, this year’s updates highlight something deeper:

The importance of building capable, confident teams who can adapt, lead and grow.

Here are the key shifts employers should be aware of:

✨ Levy funds will now expire after 12 months, increasing the need for early planning

✨ The 10% government top-up is being removed, placing greater emphasis on purposeful investment

✨ Co-investment continues, supporting employers who want to develop beyond their levy

✨ A stronger push toward early-career training and modular pathways

Momentous Learning‘s latest insight unpacks what these changes mean and how employers can respond with confidence:

Celebrating Amanda McHattie’s Momentous Journey! 🎉

Amanda began her Level 3 Youth Support Worker Apprenticeship in January 2025 and shared how the programme is helping her progress in her role and build confidence.

Amanda shared:

“As I was new to the role, the apprenticeship has given me the skills to work with young people in one-to-one and group settings, as I now have the knowledge of legislation and relevant topics to fully support the young people I work with. I now have the confidence to give information, advice and guidance to young people aged 11–19 (up to 25 for SEND) to promote positive outcomes for the families I work with.

I would highly recommend this to anyone new to youth work, as it has given me a foundation to support young people with the appropriate information to do so. The support I have from my tutor (Wendy Bulmer), other learners and my line manager is a crucial platform for my continued professional development.”

Congratulations, Amanda! Your growth and confidence shine through, brilliant work. 🌟👏

🔹 Leadership isn’t a destination - it’s a journey 🔹

Strong leadership doesn’t happen overnight, it’s built through experience and reflection, supported by a momentous development pathway and combined with a desire to never stop learning.

At Learning, we cultivate knowledge to enrich the lives of others each and every day. As an example, this week we took some learning from Jurgen Klopp’s interview with Stephen Bartlett on ‘The Diary of A CEO’. During their fantastic conversation, Jurgen provided his definition of leadership: “It’s not so important want you say to people, it’s much more important what they hear. It’s not telling people what they want to hear, it’s telling them what they need to hear to deal with their situation.”

At Momentous Learning, the purpose of our continuously evolving Leadership Pathway is to help create a world of incredible leaders:

💡 Level 3 Team Leader - Build confidence, manage people and lead your first team.
🚀 Level 5 Operations Manager - Lead strategically, deliver results, and drive performance.
🌟 Level 5 Coaching Professional - Unlock potential and embed a coaching culture that empowers others to grow.

Each stage blends knowledge with experience, strengthening the ability to lead teams, manage change, and inspire growth. The result: leaders who don’t just manage - they motivate, influence, and make momentous things happen.
