Garstang & Preston Primary Tutor

I have bases in both Preston and Garstang, and can teach from home in both places as well as travel to homes of clients. I have recently exited my full time role as a Year 1 class teacher in order to focus my attention on a new venture. As a leader in learning I take great pride in understanding exactly how children learn - I am a strong believer that children learn most when they feel safe, are a

llowed to make and learn from their mistakes and most importantly are having fun! I understand that every child is different, and that in order to be truly successful children need to be offered an approach to learning that is adapted to suit their individual needs and strengths. Whilst my main strengths are in Key Stage 1 Maths and English, I am able to adapt my teaching style to suit a plethora of ages. I have particular strengths in Phonics and can deliver individualised phonics tuition through the use of fun games and activities that allow children to take ownership of their own reading, as well as to increase their confidence upon undertaking the phonics screening. I have recently co-founded a filmmaking business, meaning I can no longer commit to a full-time teaching role. However I am still extremely passionate about working with young people and wish to continue this alongside my new career goals.
