Juliet Knollys Specialist Dyslexia Assessor Based in Frome, Somerset, I offer specialist assessment to children and young people aged 8-18 years. Please note this will not provide a diagnosis of dyslexia.

If you are unsure about what the assessment process involves, message me and I will be happy to chat it through on the phone or in person!

Bursaries for remote assessments offered by the BDA (ages 12 plus)!

We’re honoured to open a new round of dyslexia assessment bursaries for young people aged 12–21. Every child deserves the chance to understand their dyslexia and get the support that can change the course of their education and their confidence. But for too many families on low incomes, a diagnostic assessment is simply out of reach.

Thanks to our partnership with Theo Paphitis and the incredible team at Ryman, we can offer remote assessments to young people who would otherwise go without. Their fundraising has already changed lives this year, and now we’re able to give even more children the opportunity they deserve.

Applications are open until the end 9 January 2026. Full details are on our website: https://bit.ly/4r50xS2

I offer full diagnostic assessment for Dyslexia/Specific Learning Difficulties. If you are not certain whether to commit to full assessment, I offer an initial screening for likelihood of Dyslexia, which is a good first step along the road. This will be set against the cost of a full diagnostic assessment, if you decide that is what you want to move on to.

Not sure if you or your child would benefit from an assessment? Message me and we can chat it through.

I am a specialist teacher and assessor for specific learning difficulties/dyslexia. I have over 25 years of experience in education. I started out as a class teacher in primary and middle schools, before moving to small group teaching and tuition while training in the field of specific learning difficulties (SpLD). Since gaining an MA in SpLD/Dyslexia in 2013, I have worked as a SENCo in a primary setting, and as a specialist teacher/assessor and access arrangement coordinator in secondary and further education.
I now practise exclusively as a specialist assessor and tutor for children and young people aged up to 18. I offer a range of services - message me to find out what I offer, or to ask for a free initial discussion to help you make a decision about assessment.
My qualifications include an APC (Assessment Practising Certificate) – this means that my reports confirming a diagnosis of dyslexia can be used when applying for the Disability Student Allowance (DSA) in higher education.
I believe passionately that the process of diagnostic assessment, which enables children and young people to understand their learning strengths and vulnerabilities, can positively impact both self-esteem and motivation. As part of the assessment process, I provide highly personalised strategies for support, which can empower children and young people to meet their full potential.
I am a member of various professional organisations, which enables me to keep up with the latest developments in the field of specific learning difficulties. I have an active enhanced DBS which enables me to work with children and young people. I can conduct assessments at my home, at your child or young person’s home, or at schools and colleges.
