🧠 WE TEACH MORE THAN STEPS.

A ballet class isn’t just about perfecting a tendu.
Yes, we develop the ✨ Physical strength, coordination, flexibility and musicality.
But we’re also developing something far bigger….

✨ Cognitive: learning to think, remember, understand, problem-solve and make choices.

✨ Affective: building confidence, resilience, teamwork, self-expression and the ability to keep going when something feels difficult.

Because a child doesn’t walk out of the studio as just a better dancer.

They walk out more capable, more confident and more equipped for life.

At Emma Del Monaco LLB, we believe dance education should develop the whole person — not just the dancer.

And that’s what makes great dance education so powerful. 🩰

Discipline doesn’t take the joy out of dance.
Discipline gives dancers the freedom to improve. 🩰

Ballet bun — ✔️
Uniform — ✔️
Shoes — ✔️
Focus — ✔️
Repetition — ✔️
Perseverance — ✔️

These may seem like small things, but they create the starting point for meaningful learning.

As teachers, we need these foundations in place before we can provide the optimal learning environment for our dancers to develop, progress and ultimately thrive.

Discipline isn’t about being strict for the sake of it.
It’s about creating the consistency, focus and resilience that allow dancers to get the most from every class.

Structure creates freedom.
Repetition creates mastery.
Discipline creates progress.

And yes… you can have all of that AND still have fun. 🩷

Miss Goût 🩷 it was her time to dance with the angels.

A teacher who absolutely changed my life.

There are people who come into your life and leave an imprint that never goes away. Miss Goût was one of those people for me.

She took me under her wing, shared her incredible knowledge and introduced me to my amazing IDTA family. Something I will always be grateful for.

She also pushed me to grow my own ballet school, to believe in what I was building and to keep raising my standards. So much of Emma Del Monaco LLB has been shaped by the people who challenged me, and she was absolutely one of them.

She pushed me out of my comfort zone and, when I doubted myself, she had a wonderful way of making me get over myself and get on with it! 😂

I’ll never forget my Royal Ballet School teaching audition. I was nervous, overthinking everything and questioning whether I was good enough. She basically told me to stop doubting myself and get on with it.

And I did.

That was Miss Goût. A teacher very much of her generation. Honest. Direct. Unfiltered. Occasionally a very hard pill to swallow! 😂 But underneath it all was an extraordinary teacher who wanted you to become better than you thought you could be.

Her legacy is enormous — through her students, their students, the teachers she inspired, the IDTA family she brought together, and the incredible syllabus she created that will continue to train dancers for generations.

I still hear her voice in my classes sometimes. Little pieces of her knowledge, her standards and her corrections passed on from teacher to student.

So much of her is still here. 🩷

Thank you, Miss Goût, for taking me under your wing, for pushing me, challenging me, believing in me when I was busy doubting myself, and for helping shape the teacher, the school and the person I am today.

Dance with the angels. Your legacy will live on in all of us. 🩷

Being trained by The Royal Ballet School is about so much more than technique. It is about learning to value excellence, discipline, artistry, integrity and the pursuit of the highest standards— values that stay with you long after your own training has finished.

I’m incredibly proud to bring that knowledge and experience into the training of the next generation of dancers at my dance school.

To have been trained within one of the world’s most prestigious ballet institutions, and to now continue learning, contributing and sharing that knowledge with our students, is a privilege I never take for granted.
