PLEASE SHARE THIS MESSAGE WITH OTHER CASTLE HILL PARENTS/CARERS
Mr. Talbot has decided to close the School and Nursery early tomorrow (Friday 26 June) at 1.30pm. The paid-for After School Club will be cancelled.
If you cannot collect your child/children early, they can stay in school until the normal finish time and will be supervised by staff.
Castle Hill Community Primary School
At Castle Hill we aim to provide your child with the best possible educational journey
THE NEW DATE FOR THE SUMMER FAYRE WILL BE THURSDAY 9 JULY.
Raffle tickets, tokens to spend at the Fayre etc. will be available to purchase via SCOPAY until Tuesday 7 July. Tokens bought up to 18 June are ready for collection from the office now. Any tokens bought since then will be available soon. If you have paid for an inflatable slide slot on SCOPAY, please remember to come into the office to book a time slot.
Tokens will be available to buy in cash at the entrance to the Fayre. It would be helpful if you could have the right money, as change will be limited. Please be aware that there are likely to be queues on the day.
You may collect your child/children at 2.30pm on this day. If you are unable to collect your child/children early they will stay in school until the usual finish time.
There will be no free clubs after school on this day. The paid-for After School Club will still operate.
Unfortunately the decision has been made to cancel the Summer Fayre this week as the temperature is predicted to be 29C.
We have provisionally chosen Thursday 9 July as an alternative date at 2.30pm.
Once we have confirmed everything we will send another email to you.
School will now finish at the usual times this Thursday, 25 July, Year R 3.05pm, Years 1 & 2 3.10pm and Years 3-6 3.15pm.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support of Castle Hill School.
Mr Talbot has inspected the field this morning and while it is a little wet still he has decided to go ahead with the Sports Day.
Gates will open shortly before the start, 9.30am.
We look forward to seeing you there.
The weather forecast for this evening does not look good, with heavy rain and thunderstorms expected.
I will make a final decision about Sports Day at 8am tomorrow, please keep an eye on your emails for further information.

Castle Hill children had an incredible month of reading in May, Every single month we challenge the whole school to read more and more. The children have beaten most of their scores from March, our last full month of school, impressing all the staff by reading 676 books, 2,917,974 words and they even bettered our school target of reading for 18 minutes per day! This was fantastic news before the half term and we are looking forward to see if the children can keep up their impressive efforts in June and July as the school year comes to an end.
Spending time reading is the most important thing any child can do to improve their learning, so please listen to your children read as much as possible and encourage them to read at home so they can complete their quizzes in school. If you have any questions or queries about reading, then please speak to your child’s class teacher or Mr Spurgeon.
Sports Days 2026 - NEW DATES
We have re-arranged the two Sports Days, which will take place over two mornings at Castle Hill School, 9.30am until 11.00am (approximately). The new dates are:-
Tuesday 16 June 2026 - Years 3, 4, 5 & 6
Friday 19 June 2026 - Years R, 1 & 2
All parents/carers are welcome to attend Sports Day, on the day their child is due to take part.
Children will need to wear a T-Shirt in their Castle Colour, together with navy/black sports shorts and plimsolls/trainers on the day of their sports day. If you are unsure which Castle your child is in please ask at the office.
The Castles are:
DOVER - GREEN HEVER - BLUE LEEDS - RED WALMER - YELLOW
Please remember that:-
• Suncream should be applied to children BEFORE they arrive at school
• All children will need a HAT
• All children will require a DRINKS BOTTLE. If they do not have one you can buy a refillable bottle (available via SCOPAY) for £2 or a disposable bottle for 20p.
Please ensure your children have all the above when they arrive at school. Children will be given fruit and DO NOT need a snack while they are taking part in Sports Day.
We ask that ALL parents/carers stay on one side of the track to view the races and not stand at the end where children finish their event.
In the event of rain/bad weather Sports Days will be cancelled.
We look forward to seeing you all on your child/children’s Sports Day.
