✨ At The Open Door Academy, we understand how important executive functioning skills are for helping young people succeed both in and out of the classroom.

Executive functions are the “control centre” of the brain — the skills that help us:

These skills don’t always come naturally — and that’s okay. Many of the students we work with benefit from extra support in building up their executive functioning abilities.

Through personalised learning, structured routines, and a supportive environment, our team helps young people develop:

✨ Three weeks into Term 1 of the new academic year, and we’re delighted to share some wonderful news from The Open Door Academy Flitwick!

We’ve had the pleasure of welcoming our very first new student – a young person who has been struggling to attend school for the past 2 years. After just two weeks with us, he’s already told his parents he has to come back because there’s still so much he wants to do and learn here. 💛

It’s such a joy to see him thriving, and we’re so pleased and proud that our amazing head of centre and team have helped him feel so welcome. 🌟

🚪 The Open Door Academy has opened its doors for students with EBSA in Bedfordshire!

✨ We’re excited to announce we have launched a fantastic new provision to support students with EBSA (Emotionally Based School Avoidance/Non-Attendance) across the county.

📍 Conveniently located near Milton Keynes & Hertfordshire, and less than 5 minutes’ walk from Flitwick train station.

👩‍🏫 All tuition is delivered by qualified teachers and experienced SENCOs, with a strong focus on executive functioning skills to help students build confidence, resilience, and independence.

We’re proud to announce that we’ve been officially selected as an Approved Provider for Central Bedfordshire Council (CBC) starting September 2025! 🎉

This is a huge milestone for our provision and we’re looking forward to delivering high-quality services and making a positive impact to our children and young people.
