P1/2/3 had another busy week! Lots of team building activities, creative drawing, writing, counting and outdoor learning.

Thank you to Rob and Lynda from Kirkcudbright Red Squirrel Group for giving a very informative talk this afternoon about protecting our red squirrels! 🐿️

The pupils learned about why the red squirrel population has declined, the efforts being made in conservation, and ways that we can all help!

Fantastic to be back on the bike bus today. Lots of excitement and double waves from granny Pat, who has clearly missed the Friday connection. Great to see the new bike store being used at school. We need to practise cycling closer together and off the path next. More pedalling and less gassing might up the speed too!! What a fantastic full week our newest learners have had at Gatehouse.

We asked some of our new children what they enjoyed the most about starting at our primary school. From making new friends, exploring the classrooms, to learning and discovering new things, it’s been a very busy week.

We are very proud to how brilliantly you have all settled into school.

Congratulations to our Head Teacher Award winners who have demonstrated great writing skills and improvement in focus and concentration.

We also celebrated a huge number of children who have received leaves for demonstrating the school values - well done to all! 🌟

P1/2/3 had a great maths session outside today. Lots of counting, sequencing numbers, adding and identifying minibeasts, as well as teamwork, turn taking and collaborating.

It has been great to see all of our children back at school over the last two days.

It has been a really positive start to the new school year, with lots of happy faces, enthusiasm and excitement as everyone has settled into their new classes and routines.

Thank you to the staff for all of their hard work getting everything ready to hit the ground running.
