What We Do
The Urban Dance School teaches anyone and everyone to dance, from beginner to professional standard, aged between 5 to adult. Our classes are friendly and enjoyable and we teach the following styles on a weekly basis across the south west of England:
Street Dance
Breakin’/Bboyin’
Poppin’
Lockin’
House
In addition to these styles we regularly deliver classes in contemporary dance, as w
ell as exploring styles such as jazz, ballet, tap, physical theatre and waacking. Throughout the year, across all our classes, we offer our students the opportunity to participate in a wide range of performances, including our own self produced shows, as well as battles, competitions and festivals all over the UK. Our main aims are to teach and promote all types of Urban Dance including Street Dance, Break Dance, Poppin’, Lockin’ and House, as well as exploring other dance styles such as Contemporary, Jazz, Ballet, Tap, Waacking, Physical theatre and Animal Mime. We operate all over England and have over 20 weekly classes running across Spelthorne, Surrey and Richmond throughout the week delivered by our 5 teaching staff. All U.D.S teachers are fully qualified, insured, and DBS checked and have the correct teaching licensing. We are all current industry professionals with credits that include perfroming on television shows such as X-Factor and Britannia High, as well as working with artists such as JLS, Alexandra Burke, Cheryl Cole, Gary Go, Olly Murs, Paloma Faith, Whitney Houston, Chris Brown, Mariah Carey and with tour and show credits including Into The hoods, Hair, Thriller Live, Riverdance, Hairspray, Mary Poppins and London 2012 Olympic Ceremony, so you can be assured that our students get the best, safest and most enjoyable dance experience. students get many opportunities to perform throughout the year at our own self produced shows and at other events, festivals and battles all over the country. Performing at a wide range of events is open to all our students regardless of age and ability as we believe in giving everyone an equal opportunity to perform if they want to. For those who wish to embark on a possible career in dance we regularly notify the students of performance opportunities and auditions as well as advising them on their range of options. Many of our students have gained acceptance into professional performing arts colleges such as London Studio Centre, Urdang Academy and Italia Conti and have gone on to pursue successful careers in the performing arts industry.
