Today primary had their Christmas party with dressing up, photo booth, games and pass the parcel. Lots of fun was had by all!

Irwin class have been using their imagining and keep trying skills to engage in their Christmas play, 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar's Christmas'. What fun they have had!
A huge thank you to all of the brilliant professionals who came to support at our Marketplace during parents evening. It was lovely to see them all in person and for our families to have time to speak to your about their young people and share lots of resources.
Earhart Class have been getting in the festive spirit through a range of Christmas-themed curriculum activities. They have been enjoying exploring the story the Grinch, making Christmas decorations and using their keep trying skills to decorate lots of Christmas trees.

Rodney the Elf arrived at the Ridgeway School last Monday and has been busy getting up to lots of mischief across the week.
What will he do next??
On Wednesday we were lucky enough to get a visit from Father Christmas, some of our lower primary students got the opportunity to go and visit him in the MILE room and receive a present. A big thank you to Woodlarks for providing such a wonderful experience for our learners.
During their Literacy sessions Backshall class have been exploring a sensory story, ‘The polar bear’.
The children shared the book with staff members and responded to the story using photos/ symbols or Aided language displays. The children worked on using their remembering skills to complete story themed matching and sorting TEACCH tasks. Backshall class had great fun exploring our winter themed tuff tray and sensory activities linked to the story, such as making marks in our ‘snow’ tray and looking for polar animals.
If only there was snow outside!
Tabei class have been busy using their investigating skills to solve addition and subtraction problems, number recognition and symmetry!
They have been learning through play using lots of fun resources such as pom-pom part whole models and building a Numicon city.
Goodall Class have been exploring making tomato soup!
They have used their feeling and smelling skills, tasted the ingredients, then used their communication devices to communicate their preferences.
They had lots of fun using the switch to make the blender work!
So pleased to announce that our school playground is now open to the children and they are absolutely loving it! It's so much bigger thank the old one and has spaces to meet everyone's needs.
More photos to come with children in it and enjoying it, but a HUGE HUGE thank you to everyone who made this happen. It was a massive amount of money to raise and we did it together.

Pupils have been busy enjoying a range of Understanding the World experiences.
During computing they have been using a web-based music site to create music and some pupils have been learning about online safety rules.
In geography pupils have been exploring and identifying continents on a world map.
In horticulture they have been exploring seasonal foliage to make a table decoration.
Whilst out in the community pupils have been identifying animals from the Gruffalo.
That have also started to take part in activities with a winter theme and are all looking forward to festive Understanding the World experiences leading up to Christmas!

Last week, Peake class have been celebrating bonfire night and diwali -they enjoyed using their listening, looking and exploring skills to engage in a firework bucket, make chocolate sparkler bread sticks and listen to lots of different sounds and instruments representing the fireworks. Some of the class worked together with our peers across school to learn and explore. They have had lots of fun celebrating!
A group of students from Darwin Class have started mentoring some of the students in Primary. They have been reading stories to them, supporting them in their play and baking lots of delicious treats in Food Technology.
On Friday three Next Steps students represented The Ridgeway School at a Farnham Remembrance Service. They listened to poems, prayers, planted a cross and took part in two minutes of silence.
After the service they went back to the mayors office for morning tea.
The Ridgeway students have enjoyed celebrating Diwali this week. A sensory sensation full of colour and celebration. Shubh Diwali !
Well bonfire night is now over.... so it's time to think about Christmas!
The Ridgeway school are having their annual Christmas fair on Saturday 23 November 11am to 2pm to raise funds for the school.

Tabei class have had a fantastic week investigating all of the activities on offer throughout EAD week. They have been using their working together skills to make class collages and hats for Harvest Festival as well as using their keep trying skills to learn all about France on Tuesday.
