You don’t normally expect to catch big chub from still waters, however this is the third massive chub I have caught, slapping maggots shallow. This is such good fun and so very simple.

They say find the fish, feed the fish and catch them.
I think I have got at least two of these sorted.

What an absolutely beautiful morning to be coaching. First in the car park means first choice of swims. Despite the +2.5C early morning temperatures the lake has signs of carp activity in front of my chosen swim. Just waiting for the client to arrive let’s hope the carp are hungry today.
There is nothing more exciting than the first tap on your top rod followed by the rod being dragged towards the lake by a carp that picked up your rig.

Another days coaching. Weather looks perfect for a few carp. Trying something a little different from the norm. Usually I use soaked 2mm course pellets with pink and yellow soaked Cous Cous to add some colour to my method feeder. Today I am trying soaked 4mm pellets. Well it works the feeder only lasted 30 seconds before it was off with the first fish of the day. Hopefully the day stays as busy as this. Fingers crossed.

You’re not carp fishing if you have not got a bacon and sausage sandwich in your hand.

I thought I might try Some thing a little bit different today. Fishing at Chertsey on the Thames just below the weir. One rod in the deep water mid way the second just in front of the far boat. Sweet ground bait with double sweetcorn hoping for a bream or two.

Got up really early to get this particular swim this morning. That old saying “the early birch catches the worm” is very pertinent as today I am using a worm rig.
I put a few chopped worms with crushed Sticky baits Krill boilies and pellets over the two rigs placed at 14 wraps (56 yards) to a little hump on the lake bed. The first rod lasted 3 minutes before I had my first take After a dogged fight I banked a beautiful 20lbs common carp. Not long after the second rod screamed off with this very clean 15lbs common carp.
Let’s hope I manage to keep the carp feeding today.

An early start this morning at The caravan park. I am off to fish a nice 4 acre lake with two islands. It looks like I might have brought everything including the kitchen sink. Lol let’s hope the carp play ball today.

Another day at work ! Sharing my many years of angling experience and knowledge with a very eager to learn teenager. The weather is much kinder to us today with light cloud cover and a much appreciated cool breeze. The carp are already queuing up to be fed.
Let’s hope they stay in front of us all day. Fingers crossed !
