📚 Hello September!

A new school year means a fresh start — and a great opportunity to build confidence in maths from the very beginning.

Whether your child is starting Year 7, moving into Year 10 or beginning their final year before GCSEs, September is a good time to identify any gaps and build strong foundations for the year ahead.

I offer 1:1 online maths tutoring for:
✔ KS3 Maths
✔ GCSE Foundation & Higher
✔ Level 2 Further Maths
✔ iGCSE
✔ UK & international students

Lessons are tailored to each student, with a calm and supportive approach designed to help them understand the maths, not just learn a method.

Happy Saturday! I hope everyone has a fantastic weekend.

Today I'll be cheering my husband on as he takes on a triathlon. My job is to provide moral support, carry the bags, attempt to take some decent photos and, most importantly, remind him afterwards that spectating is a tough job too!

After that, I'm looking forward to some quality time with the family and making the most of the weekend together.

Whatever you've got planned—whether it's a sporting challenge, a family day out or simply a chance to relax—I hope you have a brilliant one!

That's a wrap for the exam marking season!

It's been a busy few weeks marking GCSE Maths papers as an examiner. It's always fascinating to see how students approach different questions and the common mistakes that can cost valuable marks.

One thing it reinforces every year is that success isn't just about knowing the maths—it's also about showing clear working, reading questions carefully and understanding exactly what the examiner is looking for.

I'll be taking everything I've seen this summer into my tutoring sessions to help my students feel even more prepared for their exams.

Now that marking is finished, I have a few extra tutoring spaces available over the summer for students moving into Year 10 or Year 11, including GCSE Maths and GCSE Further Maths.

Another great lesson today, helping a student prepare for starting Year 10 in September.

We focused on building confidence with key angle facts and the terminology needed for angles in parallel lines. Once the angle rules were secure, we tackled a range of missing angle problems, applying the different facts to work out each answer.

A little preparation over the summer can make a huge difference, helping students start the new school year feeling more confident and ready for GCSE maths.

*Why summer is the perfect time to catch up on maths*

Many parents think tutoring should start once Year 11 begins, but a few lessons over the summer can make a huge difference.

Instead of trying to learn new topics at school while also filling gaps from Year 10, students can use the holidays to:

* Refresh key skills they've forgotten.
* Build confidence before September.
* Ask questions without the pressure of homework and tests.
* Start Year 11 feeling prepared rather than overwhelmed.

Just a handful of sessions can help students head into their GCSE year with a much stronger foundation.

I have a few online tutoring spaces available over the summer for students moving into Year 11, covering both GCSE Maths and GCSE Further Maths.

What an incredible day at Wimbledon yesterday! I was lucky enough to be there to watch Jannik Sinner lift the Wimbledon trophy – an amazing atmosphere and a fantastic experience.

What a great reminder that success comes from consistent hard work, resilience and practice. The same is true in maths!

I’ve been away for a few days enjoying a little break, but now I’m back doing final preparations with my Year 11 students ahead of their last GCSE Maths exams 📚

It’s always such an important stage — helping students feel as calm, confident and prepared as possible going into those final papers.

At the same time, I’m already starting to support Year 10 students preparing for the move into Year 11 this September.

The summer holidays can be a great opportunity to:
✔ fill gaps
✔ build confidence
✔ strengthen key topics before mocks
✔ reduce pressure later in Year 11
