From April 2026, apprenticeship training for under-25s will be completely free for small & mid-sized businesses.

Good for young people in Cornwall looking to train & the businesses that want to train them.

This is what Paul Wickes, CEO of Cornwall Marine Network, said:

“Cornwall Marine Network is delighted to hear the budget announcement that from April 2026, SMEs will be exempt from employer contributions when they hire apprentices below the age of 25. In Cornwall, around 92% of small businesses have never employed apprentices because of the barriers”

Cornwall Marine Network supports small businesses who want to employ apprentices with specialist training on the job, in their workplaces.
