Excited to have my first PUBLISHED copy of Wistman's Wood!! Published by Peacock Press (via Recordermail for those of you who are in the Recorder world!). Many thanks to Andrew Collis for the premier and recording earlier this year, and to Ann Blockley RI for the front cover. I've written a piece for solo tenor recorder, performed in this recording by Andrew Collis. I hope you enjoy listening to it!
The video will be shown in the Longashton Midsummer Music Festival this weekend- and the theme of their festival is around forests and trees so it was a perfect fit!
The piece is dedicated to the memory of Peter Macklin, an enthusiastic recorder player and supporter of the arts who sadly passed away earlier this year. He was looking forward to hearing this piece and I'm sad he never did.

Lovely concert on Saturday with the Exeter Recorder Orchestra as part of the Teignmouth Classical Music Festival, including a premier of my tenor recorder solo, Wistman's Wood! Thank you to Andrew Collis for bringing the piece to life!! Couldn't have asked for a better performance.
I have dedicated Wistman's Wood to the memory of Peter Macklin, an accomplished recorder player and enthusiastic supporter of the arts who sadly passed away last week. I got to know Peter as chairman of the Devon Performing Arts Festival. He will be missed by many.

Had a burst of inspiration today and finally reached the end of the first draft of my piano tutor book series!! Three books and over 100 pieces... I've got a long way to go putting it all into a usable format but I'm looking forward to the process. Thank you to everyone who is continuing to support me, including the teachers and musicians whose brains I've picked.

I'm very excited for the premier of my contemporary recorder solo, Wistman's Wood, which will be performed by Andrew Collis in Teignmouth, Devon, on 1st March! It's a poetic piece inspired by the sound world of an ancient woodland in the nearby Dartmoor with all its rustling and rambling, river flowing, wind blowing, wood rotting, bird crowing.
If you're free at 7pm on 1st March and you're in the Teignmouth area, why not come along?
The Exeter Recorder Orchestra will also be there (yes- an entire orchestra of recorders- and the sound is unlike any other) and the very talented clarinettist Raphael Hitchen and pianist Ekaterina Shetliffe.
Brought to you by the Teignmouth Classical Music Festival Ticket details below.
