Welcome to Exeter Maths School (EMS), this page will give you a taste of what we’re all about but may not answer all your questions; please do visit our website or get in touch to find out more. We are a state-funded sixth form school, specifically designed for able maths students who enjoy the subject and are keen to develop further. Situated in Exeter, we work in close partnership with Exeter College and the University of Exeter to provide the facilities and expertise needed for students to excel. As we are a state-funded school we therefore do not charge for admission. Those studying at the school will be surrounded by like-minded students, keen to learn and develop as mathematicians. The majority of the time, they will be studying maths or subjects closely related to it. They will explore mathematical topics in a greater depth than the normal curriculum requires, will have contact with university staff and will have an academic mentor. By joining EMS, students will have access to the excellent facilities at Exeter College. Whether they enjoy music, sport, drama or volunteering, there will be activities available to pursue. We offer accommodation from Monday to Thursday for anyone who lives more than an hour away. There will be a charge for this facility but students may be entitled to a bursary to help meet the cost.
