Woodbury Salterton C of E Primary School Woodbury Salterton C of E Primary School is a small, village school and Nursery. It is set in wonderful countryside in rural Devon.

Woodbury Salterton C of E Primary School is a small village school catering for the needs of children between the ages of two and eleven. The immediate environment is in itself a rich resource for learning. We have three classes which are very well equipped areas that enhance the learning environment. As part of the Jubilee with Pebblebed Federation, we embrace working collaboratively to improve the outcomes for all children whilst retaining our unique Christian character. At our school, we seek to stimulate the love of learning in our children so that they want to achieve to the very best of their abilities. Every child is valued as an individual and encouraged to reach their potential within a setting where they are happy, well cared for and where they are kind and considerate towards each other. As a Church of England school we aim for the children to be nurtured in exploring faith by the Christian Values of the school and to make a positive contribution to their community. Our school is a welcoming and happy place where children can learn in a secure and stimulating environment. We set high standards for teaching and learning and we seek to help children to develop lively and enquiring minds. We want them to be able to make reasoned judgements and to apply themselves to the acquisition of knowledge and skills relevant to life in a rapidly changing world. We encourage our children to develop an understanding of this world through the experience of a broad and balanced curriculum. We try to show a caring attitude in everything we do and hope to instil in children sound spiritual and moral values with respect and tolerance for all. We have strong links with our Parish church and make a major contribution to services during the year.

Last week, Oak class took on the 3 Tors Challenge with enthusiasm, resilience and determination. Throughout the day they tackled the challenging terrain with fantastic teamwork, encouraging one another every step of the way. We were incredibly proud of how well every child behaved. They represented our school brilliantly, showing kindness, respect and perseverance while embracing the adventure and having lots of fun along the way! A huge well done to everyone who took part and thank you to the parents who helped make the day such a success. We hope the children are as proud of their achievements as we are!

The children performed excellently in their Rock Steady concert and should be incredibly proud of themselves! It was wonderful to see how much progress they have made and to watch them perform in front of an audience with such energy and enjoyment. A huge well done to all of our young musicians for their hard work and dedication, and thank you to Rock Steady Music School for supporting them on their musical journey.

The children had a wonderful time taking part in Sports Day last week. They took part in all the events, showing great enthusiasm, determination and teamwork throughout the day. It was lovely to see so many families there cheering the children on and helping to create such a positive atmosphere. This week the preschool went on an exciting trip . We were lucky enough to be invited to Mud-Ventures for a morning of exploration and outdoor play. It was a beautiful sunny day, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves! A huge thank you to Paris Richards, owner of Mud-Ventures, for offering us this wonderful opportunity.

Saplings had a wonderful morning in our Forest School field last week! As part of our Art topic, the children have been exploring the visual elements of texture, shape, pattern and form, which will inspire their final flower art creations. During the session, they experimented with making different textures using clay, natural materials and tissue paper. Our Reception children thoroughly enjoyed making salt dough before creating their own fossil prints using dinosaurs and treasures discovered in the environment. During free-choice time, there was plenty of creativity on display, with dance shows being enthusiastically rehearsed under the trees. A fantastic morning of exploration, imagination and outdoor learning!
