Last week Acorns have been learning all about dinosaurs. The children loved learning about fossils and even made their own dinosaur museum, complete with a T Rex skeleton! We also had lots of fun digging out fossils and using brushes to carefully reveal the patterns. Outside, we discovered a dinosaur swamp, with a huge volcano! Some of the children poured water down it to represent lava (look out dinosaurs!)
This week we will be learning all about volcanoes and will be making some of our own.... how exciting!

Saplings had a wonderful time at Haven Banks Outdoor Centre in Exeter last week! The children took part in a range of exciting activities including team-building challenges, archery, caving and Clip ‘n Climb. As you can see from the beaming smiles on their faces, they all faced their fears, worked brilliantly as a team and had lots of fun along the way. We were incredibly proud of their team spirit, enthusiasm and excellent behaviour throughout the day.
A huge thank you to the parent volunteers who joined us and helped make the trip such a success!

Our pupils had an amazing day at Haven Banks in Exeter, taking part in a range of exciting outdoor activities. The children put their teamwork, problem-solving and navigation skills to the test during orienteering before heading onto the water for an exciting canoeing session.
It was wonderful to see everyone challenging themselves, building confidence and supporting one another throughout the day. There were plenty of smiles, lots of learning and some fantastic memories made along the way!

Everything we do starts with young people — especially those you trust us to support. We’ve seen how much change happens when young people feel listened to, valued, and understood.

Year 1 and Year 2 had a fantastic time working together as teams to design and make their very own mini beach huts as part of their DT project! The children showed great care and teamwork as they carefully measured the wood before using junior hacksaws to build strong box frame structures. They followed their designs brilliantly, adding apex roofs and creating colourful cladding-style walls. To finish off their creations, the children had lots of fun adding the special details that made each beach hut unique, including bunting, flags and windows. We are so proud of their hard work, creativity and collaboration — don’t they look amazing!

What a fantastic way to end the term last week! We were so lucky to enjoy a wonderful community picnic in the glorious sunshine, welcoming our families and friends to our beautiful forest school setting. It was lovely to come together and share such a fun-filled afternoon. All of the children took part in an exciting drumming workshop and creative art activity where children made amazing bugs and beasts using natural materials. We were also delighted to be joined by the brilliant Inclusive Pathways Education team, who provided a range of engaging activities including painting, wand making and even fizzy potion creating—such a hit with everyone!
The afternoon was rounded off perfectly with relaxed free play, picnicking in the sunshine, and of course, marshmallow toasting around the fire pit. 🔥
A huge thank you to everyone who was able to join us—we hope you had as much fun as we did! 💛

The preschool children are really enjoying our new picnic benches. We are very lucky to have a dedicated 'quiet area' in our garden, and our new bench is the perfect addition for a spot of peaceful colouring or mark making. We have been very proud of the children for showing great respect for this area. They have used it as intended and given their friends some quiet time if they need it. At the opposite end of the garden, we are also very fortunate to have a brilliant mud kitchen area (a bit noisier but lots of fun 🤩! ). Our second bench has proved ideal as a 'minibeast cafe' restaurant area. What a lovely end to the half term. We wish you all a restful break and can't wait to welcome everyone back in June.

This week some preschool children picked some of their favourite stories and talked about why they like them. We then shared the stories together, taking it in turns to listen to everyone’s choice. It was so lovely to have this time together celebrating reading.

Saplings have had a wonderful week of learning last week! In Maths, Year 1 and 2 enjoyed exploring patterns, investigating which numbers could be halved into two equal groups. Reception children have been busy manipulating shapes to create their own imaginative pictures. In Science, alongside Reception’s learning about The Very Hungry Caterpillar, we have been observing the caterpillar life cycle and are very excited to watch our caterpillars transform into butterflies over the coming weeks. In Geography, Saplings are exploring rockpool environments as part of our Coastlines topic, developing their understanding of seaside habitats. To finish the week, the whole school came together for a fantastic live high-energy workout led by Joe Wicks, streamed from a Picture News school. This was a great way to celebrate Mental Health Awareness Week and promote the importance of keeping active for both body and mind. Well done, Saplings, for another brilliant week! 🌟
