IDEATE: Undergraduate journal of sociology at the University of Essex The University of Essex: Undergraduate Journal of Sociology, publishing the very best undergraduate Ideate (verb): Form an idea of; imagine or conceive.

The department of Sociology at the University of Essex is very proud of the work which our undergraduate students produce. As such, we celebrate the success of all students who produce outstanding work through publication in our online journal, IDEATE: the undergraduate journal of sociology. IDEATE was established in 2009 and publishes twice annually. We showcase all work which is deemed to be of the highest standard, including essays, projects, presentations and dissertations. The journal provides a space for communal appreciation of excellent work. But more than that, it is a resource for undergraduate and postgraduate students, alike, to read examples of quality work, providing them with a target to aim for in the production of their own assignments. IDEATE is an exciting and vibrant journal with diverse and interesting papers which range from anthropology to criminology, social theory to colonial studies, social psychology to social research, and much more.
