Dear Parents and Carers,
Here we are at the end of our penultimate week before the summer holidays. It has been a very hot week for everyone, and we have taken advantage of a bit of shade in the Nature Area on a lunchtime or an afternoon. Some of the children, particularly in Class 1, have especially been enjoying themselves digging in the Nature area and I’m sure some washing machines have been on overdrive.
Y6 have had a busy week. They performed their leaver’s show which was enjoyed by all and travelled to York on the train as a final trip together before leaving for pastures new. They had a chocolate making demonstration which the children loved and a visit to the train museum. I have been told that their behaviour was excellent – fantastic news Y6!
We have had a successful transition morning on Thursday with some children checking out their new classrooms and teachers before September. One of the classrooms was turned into a crime scene for the case of Mrs Bell’s missing bell, though I am yet to find out who the culprit was. The clue might be closer than you think.
Bryony has asked me to send out a reminder that all families who may be eligible for Free School Meals (FSM) need to complete the eligibility check.
Please complete and return the attached Free School Meals eligibility form as soon as possible.
From September 2026, all children from households receiving Universal Credit may be eligible for Free School Meals under the Government’s expanded scheme.
Important: Every family must complete the new eligibility check, including those whose children already receive Free School Meals. If the verification process is not completed, your child will not be eligible to receive Free School Meals from September 2026.
All afterschool clubs will be running as normal next week, except for Multisports on Friday, which will not be taking place.
Please see the weekly reminders and star awards below. Don’t forget to check out any photos of events or learning in school on our Instagram and pages.
Have a lovely weekend and for those of you who follow the football and support England let’s hope they win!
