s can change both its colour and texture in seconds.
Using specialised skin cells called chromatophores, it can instantly blend into rocks, coral, or sand - not just by colour, but by making its skin look bumpy or smooth too.
Itโs one of the most advanced camouflage systems in the animal world, helping octopuses hide from predators and sneak up on prey.
At First Class Learning, discoveries like this help bring science to life for children. Exploring amazing facts about animals and nature encourages curiosity, critical thinking, and a love of learning.
Through regular step-by-step study, children build the knowledge and confidence to understand how the world works, and to ask exciting questions about it too.
Because every great scientist starts with curiosity ๐

Struggling with times tables? Try this simple tip ๐
Use patterns as well as regular practice.
Many times tables follow clear patterns. For example, numbers in the 5 times table always end in 0 or 5, and the 9 times table has digits that add up to 9 (e.g. 18, 27, 36). Spotting patterns makes recall much quicker and easier.
At First Class Learning, we build confidence in maths through simple tips like this, helping your child make sense of maths in a way thatโs enjoyable, engaging and builds confidence ๐

Did you know making tea can be a sneaky way to practise maths?
If one cup of tea uses 150 ml of water, how much water would you need to make 5 cups?
Everyday activities like this help children practise multiplication, measurements and reasoning, all while doing something practical. Learning can be simple, useful and even refreshing!

Rainbows are not only beautiful but theyโre also science in action!
A rainbow forms when sunlight passes through tiny raindrops in the air. As the light enters each drop, it slows down and bends. This process is called refraction. Sunlight may look white, but it is actually made up of many different colours, each with a different wavelength.
Because each colour bends by a slightly different amount, the light spreads out into separate colours as it leaves the raindrop. Red bends the least, while violet bends the most, which is why rainbows always appear in the same sequence: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet.
Curiosity about everyday phenomena helps children develop a love of science and discovery.
