On 30 June, we were honoured to host the European Parliament Ambassador Schools (EPAS) Accreditation Ceremony, welcoming a total of 220 guests and around 100 students from 11 schools and colleges across the UK, alongside teachers and EU community leaders, including participants from the Greek School of Ayia Triada Birmingham, the Greek School of Wales, and the Greek School of Bristol
In partnership with the European Parliament Liaison Office in the UK, the event celebrated young people actively engaging with democracy, European values and active citizenship.
The ceremony was chaired by the Head of European Parliament Liaison Office in London Mrs Lena Maria Linnus and our Headteacher, Dr Stella Tryfonos, and featured inspiring contributions from distinguished guests:
Leena Maria Linnus, Head of the European Parliament Liaison Office in the UK
Mr Spyros Miltiades, Deputy High Commissioner of Cyprus
Professor Nicolas Batis, Honorary Consul of Greece in Birmingham
A particularly meaningful moment was the keynote address by Mr Spyros Miltiades, who highlighted the essential role of schools, teachers and students in promoting EU values such as democracy, solidarity, respect and civic responsibility. He also reflected on the significance of the day, marking the final day of Cyprus’ Presidency of the Council of the European Union, and its contribution to strengthening cooperation, youth engagement and shared European priorities.
Students also took to the stage to share their EPAS experiences — reflecting on how the programme has broadened their understanding of European institutions, strengthened their critical thinking, and inspired them to become more active citizens.
We are especially proud that the Greek School of Ayia Triada Birmingham received the EPAS Accreditation Award for the third time, recognising our ongoing commitment to European citizenship and education. Congratulations as well to the Greek School of Wales and the Greek School of Bristol on their well-deserved accreditation.
The ceremony concluded with the presentation of accreditation plaques and student certificates by Mr Spyros Miltiades and Leena Maria Linnus, celebrating the hard work, enthusiasm and achievements of all participating students.
A truly inspiring day that reminds us of the power of education to shape the future of Europe
