🌾 Harvest festival at Aldenham Prep 🌾

A wonderful Harvest Festival brought together pupils, parents and staff to celebrate the spirit of gratitude, community and giving. The service was filled with beautiful singing and enthusiastic participation from our pupils, who played an active role throughout.

We were also delighted to celebrate the fantastic donations collected for Watford Foodbank. The generosity shown by our Prep School families has been outstanding, helping to support those in need within our local community.

As well as giving thanks for the food and donations received, the service provided a valuable opportunity to reflect on the many blessings we enjoy and the importance of helping others.

Thank you to everyone who contributed and made this year’s Harvest Festival such a meaningful occasion. 💙

🪔 Diwali Comes to Life at Aldenham Prep! 🪔

What a fantastic way to start the week! Our Years 1-6 pupils enjoyed a captivating Diwali assembly led by three Year 3 pupils and their parents, who shared the story and traditions of the Festival of Lights while dressed in beautiful traditional Indian attire.

Bringing the story of Rama and Sita to life through storytelling and drama, the children shared the powerful messages at the heart of Diwali: that good can triumph over evil, light can overcome darkness, and kindness should guide our actions.

A huge thank you to our pupils and parent volunteers for helping us celebrate this important festival and the rich diversity that makes the Aldenham Prep community so special. ✨🪔

🔬❤️ Science in Action at Aldenham Prep! ❤️🔬

Our young scientists have been investigating how exercise affects the body by gathering and recording data from a range of physical activities. From star jumps and balancing on one leg to running and walking on the spot, the children compared how their bodies responded to each challenge.

With a little help, they located their pulse and measured it for 60 seconds after each activity. They also explored different ways of monitoring heart rate using pulse monitors and even a stethoscope!

A fantastic hands-on lesson combining science, investigation and discovery. 🧪📊🏃

🌟 Future Leaders in the Making! 🌟

Last week, our pupils stepped into the role of Play Leaders, developing the skills needed to inspire, organise and lead others. With guidance from Mrs Lipley, they explored the importance of clear communication, confidence, teamwork and effective leadership.

The children put their new skills into practice by leading activities, explaining rules and organising team races for their classmates. They also began designing their own activities for our upcoming Play Leading Festival, where they will take on the exciting responsibility of leading games for younger pupils across Reception to Year 3.

It was fantastic to see so much enthusiasm, creativity and confidence as our future Play Leaders took their first steps towards becoming role models for others! 👏⭐

🛖 A Journey Back to the Iron Age!

What a fantastic week for our pupils, with the highlight being an unforgettable trip to Celtic Harmony! 🌿⚔️

Stepping back in time to the Iron Age, the children brought their classroom learning to life through a range of exciting hands-on activities. From taking on different historical roles to experiencing hunting challenges, they fully immersed themselves in the day and loved every moment.

We were incredibly proud of how engaged, enthusiastic and well behaved they were throughout the visit. A truly memorable experience filled with discovery, adventure and learning! ⭐👏
