What a busy, fun-filled and very special week we’ve had! 💕
This week has been all about helping our new children settle in, feel happy, safe and confident in their new childminding environment. 🥰 It’s been wonderful watching them explore, make new friends and begin to feel at home with us.

We’ve had SO much fun! 🌳🪵
Adventures at the woods, including hammock fun, climbing and exploring
Lots of fun at the park
Beach adventures with plenty of crab spotting and exploration 🦀
💦 Paddling pool fun and lots of laughter
A fantastic open day at the Family Centre, where we met the police and fire service, the children got to learn CPR and enjoyed lots of fun games and activities
And of course… we even got to meet Bluey!

We also had a very special goodbye this week as one of our lovely children is heading off to a different primary school. 💕 Although we are going to miss her so much, we know she will be absolutely amazing and will have the best time on her next adventure. 🌟

We gave her the send-off she deserved with a special pyjama pamper party and afternoon tea 🧖‍♀️🩷🫖, followed by a very special adventure book filled with lots of memories from her time here📖 🥰.

We hope she knows just how special she is to us and hope that she will always stay in touch. We’ll miss her loads! 💕

Another busy week comes to an end! 💛
This week we've enjoyed welcoming children for their settling-in sessions. It has been lovely getting to know them and seeing them begin to feel happy and confident in their new environment.

We had a couple of paint splatter, messy,sensory sessions, the first session
our friends from Shannon's Childminding Aberdeenshire came to join in the fun! 🫟

Transforming our woodland space into our very own splatter painting experience! Dressed in white T-shirts, the children explored colour by sq**rting, splashing and splattering paint, creating lots of laughter along the way. They enjoyed it so much they didn’t mind repeating the activity to make sure as many children as possible could take part—and every single child asked if they could do it again. The best bit they got to sq**rt me to!!! 🫟

While it looked like colourful chaos, there was so much learning taking place. The children developed their fine motor skills by filling syringes, squeezing bottles and twisting lids, while experimenting with colour, movement and creativity. They also explored painting on a variety of different textures, discovering how paint behaves on different surfaces.

Before we started, we worked together to agree on some simple rules. We talked about keeping paint away from faces, respecting our friends and stopping straight away if someone said "stop". It was wonderful to see even our youngest children listening carefully, cooperating and showing kindness throughout the activity.
Sharing our splatter painting experience with another childminding group supporting the SHANARRI wellbeing indicator Included, as the children built friendships, worked together and experienced a real sense of belonging.

We enjoyed a lovely Relax Kids session, taking time to slow down, use our imaginations, practise mindful breathing and relaxation, and played a super game that got them thinking about how to join in with others and how to not leave anyone out.

We have also enjoyed a visit to the Making Waves exhibition at the art gallery. The children were inspired by what they saw, especially the opportunity to build their own versions. Back at home, they continued their creativity by making their own junk-box creations of what they had made earlier,using recycled materials.

What a fantastic week filled with new beginnings, creativity, exploration, friendship and plenty of fun. Wishing everyone a lovely weekend!

Another week down and what a week it’s been! 🌟
We’ve been SO busy having fun together:

🚴‍♀️ Bike track with bikes and scooters and park play with friends
🐉 Making our own finger puppet dragons
🍫 Baking yummy crispie cakes
💦 Paddling pool splashing, slip n’ slide and reusable water balloons- were a HUGE hit!

We had a trip to the Men’s Shed where the children got to see how the 3D printers and laser engraver worked. They made paper aeroplanes and did test flights, then got to make their own wooden ones that had been made by the laser engraver and 3D printer while we watched. So cool! ✈️

We also had a bus trip out for bowling, which they loved and lunch🎳🍽️
Finished the week with a woods session, We enjoyed reading The Billy Goats Gruff,made trip-trap noises with sticks, went on a troll hunt, then the children decided to build their own bridge and re-enact the story! They took turns being the goats and the troll, and two of them made the trip-trap sounds. It was amazing listening to them remember all the words and bring the story to life 💛

Afternoon, balancing, playing in the mud kitchen and experimenting with our bubble soap we got at lush.
Lots of laughter, learning and memories made this week!

What a lovely way to end our week! 💛

We had 2 of our lovely children off today on holiday and 1 little one who had taken unwell, hoping she has a quick recovery and can't wait to see her back soon. ❤️

My eldest enjoyed a playdate, but we went and explored Boddam, discovering a fantastic new rock pooling spot which we can’t wait to try and they loved seeing the lighthouse. Their curiosity sparked lots of conversations about the sea, rocks, and how lighthouses keep people safe.

We then visited Loopty Lou's Soft Play Centre for play and lunch, they tried the mango sorbet. The children loved it so much they wanted to buy a mango on the way home! Although they thought it felt a little "slimy," they decided we should make our own mango sorbet, which was a huge success. 🥭

Back home, we enjoyed archery, scooter riding, and plenty of outdoor play. Throughout the day, the children developed their confidence, curiosity, physical skills, and problem-solving while learning through play and exploration, supporting their UNCRC Article 31 (the right to play), Article 29 (developing their talents and abilities), and Article 24 (the right to health and wellbeing)

Another wonderful day today.

We met up with our friends Shannon's Childminding Aberdeenshire for a woodland adventure! 🌿💚

One of our activities was whittling sticks using peelers to create our own little woodland wizards. It was lovely to see the children so focused and proud of what they had made.

The rest of the morning was pure adventure! We did plan a weaving craft but only a couple of the children took part as the others were happy leading their own play and climbing trees like Spider-Man, hanging from branches like monkeys, splashing through the water(why was today the day we didnt take wellies!!) making up games and exploring every corner of the woodland. It was amazing to watch them encourage each other, cheer each other on and celebrate every little success. The teamwork happened completely naturally through their play.

We know that a few bumps, wobbles and muddy boots are all part of learning. By giving children the chance to take managed risks, they're building confidence, resilience and learning what their bodies are capable of in a safe, supported environment.

These are the moments that Realising the Ambition talks about: following children's interests and letting play lead the learning.
They also support UNCRC Article 15, giving children opportunities to build friendships, work together and enjoy being part of a group.

Safe to say there were lots of happy faces, lots of laughter and lots of children already asking when we're going back... and I think we all know the answer to that! 🌿💚

First week back and it’s been a busy start.
From settling in for lil ones. To our trip into Aberdeen yesterday. Huge thank you to Louise Danielle Lamb at Lush for organising the most magical session for us! Thank you to Hannah for carrying out the session!🎈
The children got to explore and have fun and make their very own hot air balloon bath bombs and they cannot wait to use them in their bath tonight 🛁!

We also visited Space School! 👩‍🚀
Designed space bags, took part in a typo trail to find the letters + they got to choose a prize. Then exploring space rocks, trying on space helmets, learning about planets and stars, and playing space games.

A visit to union terrace gardens to play, before heading back.

Non-stop fun and so many smiles. Busy week, happy hearts 💫 and the weeks only half done..

First day of the School Holidays fun in the Forest 🌿

On the first day of the we spent the day immersed in outdoor play.

It is important to me that the school-aged children get the same opportunities for outdoor, child-led play and learning as our younger children.

Activities:Den building, working as a team, hammock play, climbing, reading together, and bird song identification using our app followed by learning about them!

UNCRC:Article 31 - Right to Play and Leisure. Article 28 + 29 - Right to Education and development of respect for nature.
SHANARRI Indicators:Children were Active physically, Included in group activities, Nurtured through reading time, Respected as play ideas were child-led, Responsible for the woodland environment, Achieving new knowledge about birds, and Safe while taking managed risks.

🦖 What a ROAR-some day!

Our little explorers had a fantastic dinosaur adventure in the woodland! We went on a dinosaur hunt, dug up fossils, and got wonderfully messy painting with mud.

Making it extra special, Today was one of our wee one’s last days with us!

We were lucky our friends at Shannon's Childminding Aberdeenshire were able to join in our special day!

We also made new friends! Thank you to Lucie at Learn N' Play Childminding coming over,always nice to meet a like minded childminder and include/welcome new wee ones into the group.

Another fab week, despite the changeable weather!☀️💛☔️⛈️

We had a couple of River adventure days on the holiday Monday and on Tuesday we invited our friends from Shannon's Childminding Aberdeenshire and Hygge Avenue Childminding to join us too! Making sure all the children who hadn’t yet had a chance finally got to explore the river with nets, jars & tubs. The excitement was unreal, little squeals of “I caught a fish!” echoing everywhere! So much splashing, teamwork, and wonder.
Learning about science & nature discovery, using our gross motor skills, balance & coordination, risk assessing, communicating and practicing taking turns and building resilience.

🔺🟡 We had a shape hunt around the community, We took a walk and the children were shouting out each shape as they spotted them, circles on wheels, rectangles on signs etc
Learning early maths, shape recognition, observation, language development, listening, community awareness.

🎨Recycled art in the garden -I put out paints and recycling shapes, they had a great time
Painting it and exploring the different colours. Using their creativity, fine motor skills, problem solving, sustainability awareness, reusing junk!

🌻 We made our own Pompom sunflowers -After showing interest in the sunflowers growing on my windowsill. By wrapping wool around forks, cutting, glueing, the tying was tricky but they each gave it a good go and should be proud — watching them turn into a sunflower was magic.
Practicing fine motor control, hand-eye coordination, bilateral coordination, patience, sequencing, maths through counting wraps, perseverance.

We learnt and practiced Bat & ball skills, We’re learning to play bat and ball together — lots of giggles and “almost!” moments.
Using and practicing our gross motor skills, coordination, turn-taking, teamwork, perseverance.

Tree climbing + lots of lovely free play in between.

It’s been a week full of curiosity, confidence, and big smiles. I love watching them try new things, help each other, and get so excited about the world around them.

What a week ☀️ celebrating our amazing children! 🌟🏅

Tuesday we joined our friends from Shannon's Childminding Aberdeenshire and Hygge Avenue Childminding for a joint sports day. Every child felt Included and Respected as they joined in the races and cheered each other on. We loved seeing them be Active, push their limits, and show such kindness — those little moments of children helping each other, really showed Realising the Ambition in action through play and positive relationships.

Wednesday was my boys school sports day with some of our other minded children. Watching them give their all and beam with pride after each race was everything. So proud of them!

Thursday we held our own mini sports day to make sure everyone had a turn, felt Safe, and had their moment to shine. No one was left out!

Today we finished with music class and a park/picnic with friends.

So proud of them all 💛
