All parents/carers welcome to hear about how our parent council works and what we hope to support our school with throughout the year ahead.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

Welcome back to the 26-27 school year. Our first meeting this year is the AGM.

📅 Thursday 3rd September 2026
🕰️ 6.30pm
📚 Stranraer Academy Library
All parents and carers are very welcome to attend.

This is a fabulous opportunity to hear about the work our Parent Council has done over the last year, and to be involved in your child's secondary education going forward. You can also help to shape the future of how the Academy runs and to hear about all the background work going on in the school.

Please share and encourage all parents/carers to come along - it's not all about fundraising and you're not (always!) going to get a job!

🙋‍♀️ Not all parents feel comfortable to formally join the Parent Council, and that's OK. Everyone is welcome to come to the meetings as a member of the parent forum (made up of all parents/carers).
🙋🏻‍♂️Parents sometimes can't attend meetings on a regular basis. Again, that's absolutely understandable. Meetings are usually held once a term and are informative and fairly informal. If you can make it, great, if not that's fine too - minutes will be sent out.
🙋🏼Some parents may be willing to help out on a more informal and ad-hoc basis. We encourage everyone to get involved as much or as little as they can or want to. There will always be something that you will be able to help with and we are delighted to hear from anyone.

Being part of a Parent Council may feel like a big task and commitment. Our Parent Council operates as a team, so you would never be on your own. Any time or support that you can give would be appreciated.

Young people learn in many different ways and sometimes the best learning happens outside the classroom. Could you offer a work experience placement to a Stranraer Academy pupil? Please get in touch with the school for more details.

🤩👏🏻 Superb result for the PC90 Eventing team from Galloway Pony Club (made up of 3 Stranraer Academy pupils & 1 from DEHS) at The Pony Club National Championships down in Offchurch Bury.

Very well done to Emilia, Ava Lily, Sally and Megan - superb achievement 🤩👏🏻🥇🏆 The best in the UK all the way from our wee corner of Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
