🐾💞 Meet Maggie & Ollie 💙🐾

Jenny Timmins (2 years ago, taken from google))

Can't recommend highly enough, Tracey has done wonders with my 2 mini daschunds. Both didn't socialise at all, hated people and hated other dogs. We met about a month ago, different dogs and even Life changing for me. 🐶🐶

💞MEET SKYE 💞

A lovely write up from her parents. 🥰

Skye’s Journey so far…

Skye is our 6 years old black lab rescue puppy. We rescued Skye from the SSPCA back in February. She had been previously living on one of Scotlands biggest puppy farms and kept in a cage for most of her life except when it came to allowing her out for breeding purposes.

Since welcoming her into our family she has come on leaps and bounds with the help of Tracey our beloved dog walker and dog behavioural specialist! In the beginning Skye managed to escape twice from us in a matter of weeks, wriggling free from her collar and lead. With help and encouragement from Tracey, Skye got used to wearing and walking with a harness on which she previously wouldn’t take too. She was also very nervous when it came to walking near roads as the noise of passing traffic petrified her. Again with training and persistence, Skye is gaining more confidence and road sense by the day.

As for now, just over 3 months down the line we were able to walk Skye off lead at the weekend (which for a long time we never seen coming, especially after the previous escapes) this was only achieved through Skye being with Tracey and the pack 5 days a week and using training aids such as training leads to work on recall etc. We’ve managed to built her trust in us and now she looks for reassurance and takes her cues from us and her sister Rudi when out and about. It’s been an absolute joy to watch her progress so far and how far she’s come in such a short space of time.

People often asked me, what is the difference between General training and clinical Dog training?

A little more information understand the difference between the two different training plans.

The difference between general dog training and clinical canine behaviour work is that dog trainers mainly focus on teaching obedience and skills, whereas clinical canine behaviourists work to understand and address the emotional and psychological causes behind a dog’s behaviour.

Training usually covers things such as:• Sit, stay, recall and loose lead walking• Puppy foundations and social skills• General manners and obedience• Building engagement and confidence

Clinical canine behaviour work goes much deeper. It focuses on understanding why a dog is reacting or behaving in a certain way and creating a structured behaviour modification plan tailored to that individual dog. This can include issues linked to fear, anxiety, stress, trauma, frustration, or learned behaviours.

A clinical behaviourist may be needed if a dog displays:• Aggression towards people or other animals• Severe separation anxiety• Destructive behaviours or house soiling• Noise phobias such as fireworks or thunderstorms• Extreme fear, reactivity, or compulsive behaviours

The goal is not just to stop the behaviour, but to improve the dog’s emotional wellbeing and help owners better understand their dog’s needs and communication.
