Activity idea

Have you got a big box in your house or a delivery coming soon? Why not make your very own Puppet show theatre like we did at our nursery in Edgware.

cut out the puppet theatre and then let the children paint their box any colour they choose.

Why not name your theatre after your child or your family name.

Once dry you and your child can take it turns to tell a story using puppets, teddy bears, toys from around the house, dolls and anything your child may want the story to be about.

You can try to follow a story like Dear Zoo or you can make up your own! Endless hours of fun and entertainment. Why not even get some snacks turn the lights out and shine a torch onto the theatre for special effects.

I have a fantastic opportunity available.

I will be running a 2 hour first aid course for parents on Tuesday 24th September at 6:30-8:30pm at our Stonegrove nursery in Edgware. (5 Hayling way, one Stonegrove community centre, Top floor for the nursery, HA8 8BN)

All parents welcome your child does not have to be attending the nursery for you to book your space.

Children will not be able to attend on the evening of this course.

Information for First aid course for parents.

The course would consist of:

2 hour course, including

• Incident management
• Initial assessment
• Recovery position for child and baby - theory and practical
• CPR for child and baby … same.....
• Choking management for child and baby....same
• Bleeding and medical shock

Brief discussion on.....
• Head injuries
• Febrile convulsions
• Anaphylaxis
• Minor injuries
• plus any other topic if time allows

Includes a certificate and first aid manual.

The cost would be roughly £30 per parent (cash). We have only 8 spaces left available.

If you would like to attend this course please pop upto the nursery to speak with Chloe the manager by Friday 13th September. You will need to pay to reserve your space.

Following on from watching Caterpillars go through their life cycle we have now been talking about Spring and how it brings beautiful colours all around us and new life too. Here are some photos of our many activities from talking about baby farm animals in a very messy gloopy mud tray to painting plants on our light boxes after talking about what plants need to grow.

Thank you to the parents who have been bringing in flowers from their gardens and also to those bringing in bouquet's in to put in our home corner which has been turned into a florist for our Spring time and Easter theme.

This week both children and staff enjoyed taking part in their very own Wimbledon day! The children practiced their Tennis skills using a bat and ball with the staff supporting and demonstrating how this is done. They then enjoyed a lovely afternoon snack in true "Wimbledon fashion" including scones with cream and jam alongside a cup of decaffeinate tea.

This week we had our graduation ceremony and summer party. We had a wonderful turn out from our parents who came to see their little ones graduate before they head off too big school. We are going to miss all of our children who will be moving on and wish them all the best for the future. Here are a few photo's from our party including special cakes made by the children and our very popular graduation prop station.

Last week the children grated and chopped vegetables to mix in with natural yogurt to make their own Raita. They then enjoyed dipping in slices of pitta bread into their Raita to eat as a snack. Involving the children in preparing food helps them to learn about health eating and hygiene practices. It has also encouraged some of our children to try new foods they wouldn't usually eat as they were involved in the preparation process.

Getting creative and in the Christmas spirit by decorating Christmas ornaments, using different materials! EYFS link- Expressive arts and design: Exploring and using media and materials 'Beginning to be interested in and describe the texture of things' 30-50 months

Yesterday we had our staff meeting where we refreshed our knowledge on the EYFS whilst meeting new and old colleagues from other sites. We discussed how to extend children's learning with the activities we provide. Staff meetings enable us to have better communication, teamwork, and allows everyone to put their views and ideas across.

Celebrating remembrance day by making handprint poppies and decorating biscuits

We have celebrating Diwali this week by decorating diva pots which we made from salt dough and doing henna designs.
