Our year 7s were incredibly lucky to go to Trelai Park in Cardiff today to take part in a real archaeological dig. They managed to find artefacts from as far back as the Bronze Age by digging, sieving and cleaning their finds. All pupils were a real credit to the school in the way they conducted themselves and CAER Heritage were incredibly impressed with their enthusiasm, work ethic and prior knowledge. Well done all!

Year 8 humanities this week saw our pupils studying the devastating effects of the Indian Tsunami 🌊 of 2004. Postcards went home to Aleks, Robert, Georgia, Elcie-Mae, Seren, Lowri, Arianna, Macie, Ellis and Holly for their excellent attitude to learning 👏 🤩 🗺️

Mr. Owen’s year 7 humanities class were the first group to conduct their river study at the local waterfall-they split into groups and recorded the speed of flow over 3 metres at different locations, each further downstream than the others. Behaviour was excellent 👌 and the pupils really enjoyed their authentic learning experience 🗺️ 💧 📏 ⏱️

Year 9 MAT group in humanities had the fantastic opportunity to visit the Gwent Archives 📚 over in Ebbw Vale this afternoon-they looked at maps from two centuries ago and prison records showing how different the crimes committed were from historical records!
