Today, Child A worked incredibly hard on her writing! We started by practising simple CVC words before challenging ourselves to write full sentences. 🌟

Child A really pushed herself to create longer and more complex sentences, while continuing to show off her wonderful handwriting. It was fantastic to see her confidence and progress shine through! 💕📚

A lovely morning of reading and building on comprehension skills 📚 ✨

Reading a sentence is only the first step - the real learning comes from understanding it.

When children practise reading sentences regularly, they build fluency, confidence, and accuracy. Once they’ve read the sentence, take a moment to ask simple questions about what they’ve just read. Can they explain it in their own words? What does a particular word mean? Why do they think that?

Encourage your child to ask questions too. Curiosity is a powerful learning tool, and asking questions helps deepen understanding and develop critical thinking skills.

Most importantly, keep it fun! Turn questions into a game, celebrate correct answers, laugh together, and praise their effort. Children learn best when they feel relaxed, confident, and enjoy the experience.

A few minutes of sentence reading and discussion each day can make a huge difference to reading confidence and comprehension. 📚✨

Today we worked on phonics, played lots of fun games, and developed comprehension skills by exploring a text together and answering a range of questions.

By following the child’s interests and using cars as a motivator, learning became engaging, meaningful, and enjoyable. When children are interested and having fun, they’re often more confident to take risks, build new skills, and celebrate their achievements.

Every child learns differently, and tailoring sessions to their interests can make all the difference. 💙
