🎸 **Exciting News from the Studio!**

This Saturday, I had the pleasure of welcoming a new student for his very first guitar lesson. He’s been learning for a few months through online apps, and it was great to hear him play a song he’d been working on — demonstrating some solid early skills with melody and chords.

During our first session together, we covered a lot of ground:

🎵 Understanding the basics of reading standard notation
🎸 Learning to read and play melodies using the E, F & G notes on the first string
🔹 Open chords — G, C & D Major, A, D & E minor
🕒 Following time signatures and strum patterns to play chord progressions
🎶 Exploring C & G major scales
🎷 Starting the intro and rhythm section of a blues instrumental

He’s now following my structured progressive method, designed to build solid technique and accelerate learning — much faster than learning from apps alone.

My teaching approach covers reading both traditional music notation and guitar tablature, along with music theory, chords and scales, taught in a structured and progressive way.

Students also have the option to work towards graded guitar exams — many of my pupils have achieved excellent results, including distinctions at Grade 8 level.

In addition to technique and theory, we’ll explore lead guitar riffs, rhythm playing, and learning songs.

I have recording facilities available, where students can record instrumental tracks or play along with backing tracks.

I’ve just added a Gibson J-45 to my collection — one of the most iconic acoustic guitars ever made! I’ll be using it during lessons and demonstrations to show how expressive and dynamic the guitar can truly be. Its warm, balanced tone is a real reminder of why I fell in love with playing in the first place.

In my lessons, I focus on helping each student develop their own sound, build solid technique, and enjoy every step of the journey. Whether you’re picking up a guitar for the first time or refining your playing, I’ll help you grow your skills with confidence and creativity.

I offer electric, acoustic and classical guitar lessons for beginners through to advanced players, covering all styles. Lessons focus on both practical playing skills and music theory, helping you become a confident, well-rounded guitarist.
