Calling all families with children starting Reception in September 2027 📣

We will be holding three Reception open evenings which will offer children/ families the opportunity to spend time in the Reception classroom, meet staff and have a tour of school.

Tuesday 3rd November 3:45-4:45pm
Wednesday 4th November 3:45-4:45pm
Thursday 5th November 3:45-4:45pm

What a treat for the whole school yesterday! We combined two of our favourite end of the year traditions: whole school trip to Jubilee Park and a fantastic brass performance as part of the Durham Brass Festival! After a long walk from school, what a perfect way to relax in the sun with some music from Loud Noises. Thank you Spennymoor Town Council and everyone involved 🤗🎺🎷😍💃

Our other historian, Rick (also a geologist!), came in to talk about Tudhoe Colliery Mine and the disaster that happened there. This history is so important! If there was no mine, there would be no school!

We’ve had Wayne come into school this week and show us his extensive collection of historic, local items and tells us all about the local history of Tudhoe and Croxdale over the last 150 years!

Did you know there used to be a Front Street, Middle Street and Back Street? 🏠

Did you know Tudhoe was the home of a record breaking pigeon called the Prince of Rome? 🐦

Did you there were fighter pilots that sacrificed themselves to save our school? ✈️

CREATIVE WEEK IS IN SESSION! 🎉🤩 Year 4 have been interviewing our visitors this morning on what primary school was like in the 60s!

They have used what they said to make similarities and differences presentations! The 60s vs Now!

Check out Year 4s athletics lesson yesterday! We had to pick and choose throws to use to play in a version of bench ball (without the bench!) and practised throwing the javelin in another game! 🏐🏅

Calling all September 2026 Reception new starters - the fantastic Petite Street Playtown is hosting a Tudhoe Colliery Reception class meet up on the 11th August 😍

These sessions are the perfect chance for little ones starting school to come along, play, explore, and meet some new friends before the big day! 💛
