It was so lovely to welcome lots of prospective parents to our school for the open morning today - we hope you found it useful. Thank you to our head pupils for speaking so wonderfully about their time at St. Godric's. They were joined by our Y6 councillors who also helped with questions and answers.

Talking to a pupil about their wellbeing can feel daunting, particularly when you are unsure what to say or worried about hearing something concerning.

Our latest guide reminds educators that they do not need to be specialists to provide meaningful support.

The guide explores:
• Building warm, trusting relationships
• Choosing a safe and appropriate place to talk
• Using side-by-side conversations to reduce pressure
• Staying calm when a pupil shares a concern
• Being clear and honest about confidentiality
• Knowing when to involve safeguarding colleagues or seek support yourself

It also includes practical conversation starters to help staff open discussions gently and give pupils space to talk when they are ready.

A big thank you to all our Reception parents and carers who joined us after school today. It was wonderful to share how we teach reading through our Read Write Inc. phonics programme, and we hope you found the session useful and informative as we work together to support your children's reading development.

It was wonderful to welcome back Daft as a Brush and to hear about their fabulous work in our city. We all got to see the ambulance we had sponsored as a school a number of years ago.

On Sunday, we were delighted to welcome the Year 4 children from St. Godric’s, St. Joseph’s and St. Thomas More to Mass as they begin their preparation for the Sacraments of Reconciliation and First Holy Communion. Children and their families attended either the 9.00am Mass at St. Godric’s or the 10.30am Mass at St. Joseph’s, where they took an active role in the celebration through a variety of ministries, including welcoming parishioners, reading and participating in the offertory procession.

During the Mass, each child came forward with a parent to publicly declare their readiness to begin this special journey of faith. Over the coming months, they will prepare to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation and then Jesus in Holy Communion for the very first time when they celebrate their First Holy Communion in June.

Following our recent Ofsted visit, we couldn't be prouder of our children and the way they showed what it means to ‘Be the Light’ through their kindness, confidence and enthusiasm for learning. Why not come and see St. Godric’s for yourself at our Open Morning on Wednesday 7th October at 10am, including a tour of the school.

Another very prayerful child-led Service of the Word in Year 6 this week - well done.
