Merryoaks Community Hall

Monday 5th October 6pm is the next meeting of the Merryoaks Community Hall Bookclub. The book under discussion is The Man who died Twice by Richard Osman.

Here’s what club member Alan says about it: “The Thursday Murder Club is a group of residents from Coopers Chase retirement village.

The club’s members (Elizabeth Best, Joyce Meadowcroft, Ron Ritchie, and Ibrahim Arif) face a new adventure when Elizabeth’s ex-husband, Douglas Middlemiss (an MI5 agent), moves to a safe house in Coopers Chase.

Douglas contacts Elizabeth and reveals that he stole £20 million worth of diamonds from the home of Martin Lomax, a middleman for several criminal organizations.

The diamonds belong to New York mafioso Frank Andrade.
Douglas’s life is threatened by Martin and Andrade.
He hopes to get to Antwerp, sell the diamonds, and disappear."

We look forward to welcoming new and old members of the Bookclub on Monday.

This is a free event with light refreshments served. Donations towards expenses are always welcome.

October already, where has the year gone? So this Saturday October 3rd being the first Saturday in the month will be the monthly Coffee Morning at Merryoaks Community Hall at 11am.

Come along and chat with your neighbours, see what’s new at the Hall, borrow a book or jigsaw.

Also on Saturday we will have the PATmen checking your SMALL electricals for safety and doing minor repairs.

Vanny the eco-van will also be visiting, so you can stock up on store cupboard essentials but in the amount you want. Please bring your own containers.

Looking forward to welcoming you to Merryoaks Community Hall.
